Something ancient stirs at the edges of Easter. A movement in the hedgerow at dusk: a pale shape watching. Stories from Bardsea to Cornwall hint at a hare... or something like it. More soon at Ghost Catcher Isles.

The Danelaw? I thought that ended around 1066! Looks like it just went underground....

Tonight I am doing my online retelling of a story written in the late-14th century. I love this story so much and it includes an archetype of the Green Man. I am sure you can guess what story it is from the picture of one of the books I used for research...

Tucked among the choir stalls at Bristol Cathedral are tiny wooden misericord carvings. Leaves, flowers & little faces: easy to miss unless you slow down.
Hand-carved, quietly watching, still waiting to be noticed. Look closer next time.

I do love the way that Irish libraries have continued to integrate into society. This v impressive stand is in one of Dublin’s main hospitals, Tallaght, in the West of the capital.

When I was little, my great grandma used to tell me to smash a hole in the bottom of my boiled egg shell to stop witches using them as a boat. I used to imagine them sailing away across the North Sea off the coast of Norfolk using my unbroken egg shells as their ships!

I spotted this a while back but kept forgetting to post it up. It's a superb postbox topper celebrating Chinese New Year, year of the Fire Horse. I'm a bit late but, 恭喜發財 Gong Hei Fat Choy!

1/2 Last night, my husband and I were spellbound by @jasonstoryteller.bsky.social ’s storytelling at the Assembly Rooms in Glastonbury. His tale “How Jack Hare Stole the Sun King’s Crown” was rich with British folklore and perfect for marking the Spring Equinox and World Storytelling Day today.
2/2 And now you can read it here too: The Blood that Feeds the Roots. This edition is jam packed with great art and words from a whole host of talented people. Please pick up a copy and support the EAFC. Buy here: www.eastanglianfolklorecentre.co.uk/shop/p/the-m...

Today, 20 March, is World Storytelling Day! This day is a lovely reminder of how stories bring us together, fire the imagination, and keep traditions alive.
Merch from UncannyCon 3 years ago. Who knew that not so long afterwards I'd have some of my writing published in @hauntedmagazine.bsky.social myself too! 👻✍🏻

2/2 Women have long shaped both science and the occult, even when history overlooks those stories. It was a pleasure to explore that intersection in this collection celebrating women in the macabre. 🖤

Last summer I went to the Chalklander festival in Avebury celebrating the ancient chalk landscape. I even joined the procession around the stones.
Lovely to see it in The Stroller’s Tale, and I spotted myself in the photos!
