53 min tempo run. Absolutely brutal- and on a Monday and in the rain! Just a case of head down and getting it done today. Missed all of the Garmin targets, but did run a mile in 11.40 which is my target pace. Run soundtrack by Manic Street Preachers #running #runningpunks

Same for me with HR. It’s weird isn’t it

That’s not what Garmin thinks! But thank you and hope you are enjoying your runs too.

Yup, just a bit! But whilst it can feel like you are starting again, but you aren’t really because there is underlying fitness. I really hope you can stay injury free now and get back to your best!

Well done for getting out there and getting it done. No run is a bad one. I’ve had two injury lay offs that has set me back, so I know all too well how it feels like having to start over. Hang in there, it’ll come back!

Fabulous run route! Running under spaghetti junction always feels cool and there is a surprising amount of green space and nature amongst the post industrial ruin.

Sunday tempo run. Target was 40 mins @11.20 pace. Managed 11.48 pace (which Garmin was not happy with but I was!) Cooling drizzle and then started properly raining just as I got back home. A result! Run soundtrack by Mogwai #running #runningpunks

Tempo run (in London). Target was 53 mins @11.40 pace. Actual was 53 mins @ 12.30 pace (including a very slow section at about 3.5m). Lots of other runners in London which is good motivation. Run soundtrack by: Suede (album of the year!) #running #runningpunks

40 min tempo run. Target was 11.50 (warm up and down) and 10.40 for 20 mins. Splits were 12.27, 12.03 and 12.48. So plenty of improvement space! Enjoyed speeding up and hopefully this time I won’t get injury setbacks as I build up! Run soundtrack by Autopolitan #running #runningpunks

Tempo Run. Garmin demands 2.5 miles, I managed 2.18 due to slow first lap. Garmin not happy! Gorgeous, still and mild autumnal running. The melancholy of winter creeping in is palpable. Run soundtrack by Just Mustard. #running #runningpunks

Another slow amble round. Enjoyable but not productive, so back to the 10k plan I think. That said drinking in mild autumnal weather, leaf fall, massive squirrel activity and seasons change is pretty nice! Run soundtrack by Bloc Party. #running #runningpunks

Quick run in London while down for work. Forgot headphones (so didn’t take phone) and ran exposed to the sights and noise of London. Cars, bikes and people abound…very different to my usual runs on the canal and on trails!! Run Soundtrack by Ragana #running #runningpunks

Nice run out on the canal this morning. Stunning autumn day: calm, warm, sunny and rust coloured. Near perfect! So wrapped up in it all I forgot to take a photo! Perfect run soundtrack by Mogwai. #running #runningpunks

3x5k of the week. Easy running at conversational pace. Easing back into it after 3 weeks on holiday where we did an excessive amount of walking (and eating!) and travelling on cramped planes and trains. Good effort! Magisterial run soundtrack by Echo & The Bunnymen #running #runningpunks

Drizzly 5k base run today. Warmer and more still than yesterday. Darker mornings are incoming sadly, but getting out there does help to keep the winter SAD at bay. Run soundtrack by All Structures Align #running #runningpunks

First run post holiday. It was much colder and harder than the last run I did! Felt good to running, but it was hard despite taking it as slow as possible. Got to pat a lovely and very excitable young collie dog for the win though! Run soundtrack by Crystal Castles #running #runningpunks

Zone 2, 5K (and a bit). Focus today on running ‘technique’ and rhythm. Saw a lovely border collie 🐶 and got a pat in and a lick! Glorious autumn day, sunny and cool, seasons turning feel among the crisp leaves. Run soundtrack by new obsession Outlander ‘Acts of Harm’ #running #runningpunks

Easy 5k keeping it slow to stay in zone 2. Zone 2 feels easy going now (if slow!) Gorgeous morning for running with a lovely cooling breeze and lots of ducks and birds zipping in and out of the canal. Awesome run soundtrack by Birmingham favourites, Outlander. #running #runningpunks

Perfect weather for running today. Cooler, sunny, blue skies, nature alive everywhere, end of summer leaf fall. Route involved two climbs today, but nice downhills after both. Loved being out today…felt so alive!! Run soundtrack by Smashing Pumpkins. #running #runningpunks

Thought I’d be fresh today after the bank holiday, wrong! Couldn’t get going, couldn’t get any rhythm and didn’t relax into the run. Felt like I was battling myself and was knackered after 1 mile. Not my best run, hopefully tomorrow is better! Run soundtrack by Crystal Castles #running #runningpunks

Zone 2/3 run. Cool and lovely breeze made running feel a lot easier. Pushed the heart rate up into higher zone 2 and low 3 today. Ran lap 2 and 3 faster than lap 1. No idea how! Run soundtrack seminal New Order (vinyl reissue next month) #running #runningpunks

Base run. Gorgeous morning for a run. Canal lovely and peaceful, heron spotted, music good and a nice easy pace that felt easy to maintain. Wish I could have gone a bit further today. Body felt good and no pain or discomfort in the hip. Run soundtrack by BDRMM #running #runningpunks

Very good (but depressing) piece on the best event in Brum. Good, because it shows how Supersonic continues to innovate and thrill. Depressing, because our city (and, as usual, its leaders) aren’t pulling out the stops to support it and don’t appear to even realise its immense value to Birmingham.

Zone 2 run (with some zone 3 in the middle). Very hot and muggy, as the photo indicates! No hip pain - which I’m so happy about. Saw lots of rabbits and horses and massive bonus, got to pat a lovely border collie. A cracking run! Run soundtrack by Early Day Miners #running #runningpunks

Thank you. It’s really humid here, but I think it’s due to be a bit fresher from tomorrow 🤞

Base run: 27min @ 11.50 mph Too hot for this today. Unbelievably muggy and close at 7.20 this morning. Lots of runner out today and it was good to be out ‘in company’ as I sweated and huffed down the canal path! Run soundtrack by the seminal Jesus and Mary Chain #running #runningpunks
