I refuse to leave our people in red states behind. The Civil Rights Movement came from the Deep South. Red state progressives are some of the hardest working activists.

Been thinking about this a lot (not tagging the sender, for their privacy). Most of us won't have the chance for for grand, capital-R Resistance heroics. But every one of us will have a thousand small choices to make about how to live our lives and where to draw lines. Use them well.

These executive orders on banning federally funded entities from recognizing trans people or disallowing them from using the bathroom are not self-executing or immediately enforceable. They require formal rule making at a minimum. They are a scare tactic. Ignore and do not comply in advance.

Anyone else feel unsuccessful when you're not socializing at an academic conference but also overwhelmed by catching up with so many people in your field? I'm not built for conference life.
