Poem text:

There will come soft rains and the smell of the ground,
And swallows circling with their shimmering sound;

And frogs in the pools singing at night,
And wild plum trees in tremulous white,

Robins will wear their feathery fire
Whistling their whims on a low fence-wire;

And not one will know of the war, not one
Will care at last when it is done.

Not one would mind, neither bird nor tree
If mankind perished utterly;

And Spring herself, when she woke at dawn,
Would scarcely know that we were gone.

You know what Melania Trump didn't release/address yesterday?

Her immigration records

In July 2016 -- 10 years ago -- Trump promised to hold a presser & release Melania's immigration records after the RNC. Then in Aug 2016 he told CNN he would release in a couple of weeks

IT HAS NEVER HAPPENED

Trump Tirade at MAGA War Critics Accidentally Makes Surprise Admission The president just referred to Alex Jones’s Sandy Hook conspiracy-mongering as “horrendous.” Funny thing—he didn’t seem to think so at the time.

In his tirade against MAGA war critics, Trump blasted Alex Jones for calling Sandy Hook a hoax.

This seemed odd. So I went back and checked. At the time Trump hailed Jones as "amazing" and rebuffed demands that he denounce lies about the shooting.

"People really don’t like data centers. Especially when powered by fossil fuels."

Bi-partisan opposition to something like I've never seen before.

It's the people vs the oligarchs.

Refreshing. We will need a lot more of this.

The grisly subject matter notwithstanding, this was one of the better non-fiction books I’ve ever read. It will piss you off for a litany of reasons, not the least of which are the corporations that poison us and manage to shirk responsibility. Great work, @calfraser.bsky.social.

No animal alive today is ‘primitive’ – why are so many still labeled that way? All species alive today, from chimpanzees to bacteria, are cousins that each have equally long lineages, rather than ancestors or descendants of one another.

The idea that humans sit atop an evolutionary hierarchy dates back to 1866, when a scientist drew the first tree of life with "Man" at the top.

This inaccurate view still shapes how we think of the animal world, despite decades of genomic evidence proving evolution has no hierarchy.
