Just to be clear, he's not a doctor either. 😒

Oh, I’m not questioning why Trump says things. What I’m confused about is why the journalists I’ve heard talking about it aren’t addressing that question.

@maxboot.bsky.social Okay, was able to read your WaPo piece on my laptop, but still confused. Not about how is Trump able to say the US is blockading the Strait, but actually how is it even possible since this is Iran's "card?" And my next question: Why isn't this an obvious question? 🤔

Much of it is very blurry...

The term "insulin-requiring" is typically used instead of "dependent" for type 2 who progress to requiring insulin, although how many of those are actually misdiagnosed T1D and actually are "dependent" is unclear.

@exnerd.bsky.social Thanks, Chris. That is the latest version but it's being updated.

Yes, and can lead to death if insulin is withheld long enough. Covid can trigger either diabetes type in those predisposed. Any adult who progresses rapidly to needing insulin should be checked for autoantibodies.

Ha, thanks. But am I crazy, or is this not an obvious question?

Please back up a step. How can the U.S. “join” the blockade? Who’s in control? 🧐 (Can’t read your WaPo column on my phone even though I subscribe because login is required and I haven’t memorized my password. Checked the app but it’s not there yet. 😣)

Maybe I’m just uninformed but how can the U.S. blockade the SoH when Iran is already blockading it? Who controls it??

My op-ed in @washingtonpost.com

Sometimes it’s hard to tell how an outbreak could have been prevented. But with raw milk and raw dairy, it’s pretty straightforward. These are preventable and fueled by misinformation.

Seeing quite a few comments from people with #type1diabetes who were told their A1cs are "too low" and should be higher. Concerning that their doctors (some endocrinologists) seem unaware of continuous glucose monitoring. A1c gives no information about low blood sugar. #diabetes

Serious question: In what time zone is the #Artemis crew? Does it change as they zip around the moon, or are they on a totally different time schedule since they’re not on Earth? 🚀👩‍🚀⏰🤔

Just to clarify, people with #type1diabetes need to take insulin ALL THE TIME, not just before meals. That's done one of two ways, but apparently she was given neither. Curious wording that they "misdiagnosed" her since she already had the diagnosis. The correct word is "mistreated."

A person with nausea/vomiting/extreme fullness is diagnosed with #gastroparesis via positive gastric emptying study. If negative and no other cause found, the dx is "functional dyspepsia." Some experts see 2 different conditions, others say it's a continuum that needs a new name.

Most healthcare professionals likely know that there's some complexity in the diagnosis of #gastroparesis and that only one drug is approved in the US to treat it. But, there's a lot more to it... www.medscape.com/viewarticle/...

While A1c is the favorite among pharmaceutical companies because it is so easy to measure, there is a push to expand beyond that as the sole metric used. But consider exactly WHERE the pushback is strongest before making any conclusions.

Reclassification From Type 2 to Type 1 Diabetes Not Uncommon Those who were misdiagnosed had higher healthcare utilization, suggesting potential benefits of broader autoantibody screening.

For the umpteenth time, not all adult-onset #diabetes is #type2diabetes. In fact, #type1diabetes arises more often in adulthood than childhood. This large database study showed that about 1 in 26 cases were later re-classified, but how many more weren't? www.medscape.com/viewarticle/...
