Well, that needs to go in a wildlife photography contest!

Great Blue Heron taking off in flight. His wings are in a semicircle around his body and his feet are in the air a few feet above the ground.
I have a few more shots of this Great Blue Heron yet.
Hope you aren't tired of seeing him. Here he is with his wings looking like an umbrella.

The Dark-clawed Chthonic, Chthonius tenuis at Higher Hyde Heath Dorset today.
Is it snowing? No it’s Cottonwood Fluff Time! While many people are convinced this is the source of their allergies, usually the source is something else like an actual pollen from grass.
These little guys actually excavate burrows. Then they’ll bring in little bits of plants and feathers for the end of the burrow where they lay their eggs. But yes, they have to be right next to water cause that’s where they get the majority of their food, flying insects.

The inside of a box to hold a colony of Bank swallows, there are 36 individuals boxes to host a swallow pair each.
My coworker, Matias installs individual boxes designed for one swallow pair each.
Thursday afternoon, we filled the individual chambers with sand and installed the bank swallow houses in the colonial box. Fingers crossed! The box has extensive insulation and a fan to keep it cool.

How close do you have to have the cameras to get good bird imagery, do you notice birds being affected by the cameras?
Here's the spotted towhee video with slow motion.
I love being able to see the small things like this with the browning cameras on 60fps, it's easy to slow the video down and/or take screenshots.

A small black bird with a lemon yellow belly is perched on the edge of a bird bath. He has just dipped his beak into the water and is sitting up. If you look closely, he has a bubble of water in his beak.

Delphinium nuttallianum, our Nuttall's Larkspur, blooming on the Towhee trail. This example has bright blue sepals with white and purple reticulated top petals and hairy purple lower petals. This is the most common Larkspur here in our foothills and montane. #nativeplants

The vote was delayed thanks to the Minnesota Senators. So you still have time to call. The vote is scheduled to occur tomorrow, Thursday, April 16. Thanks for sharing this post and caring for wilderness and wildlife and clean water.
This guy watches me fill goat buckets every morning… gotta keep track of all the yard water sources😄
A photo of a moth which looks VERY much like a paper wasp. It has dark rust red colors with yellow bands and markings. The lack of the 'wasp waist" is one easy way to differentiate them.
This fun moth, a Grape Root Borer Moth, Vitacea polistiformis. Landed on my leg a few years back and I was very glad I took the moment to look closely as it does a great job of Paper Wasp mimicry! They are in the same subfamily, but lack the shrimp butts 😁
Lovely
Sound up to hear Wood Frogs near by 🔈 (this little one was sitting alone, resting, and I don't know if it's a Wood Frog 🤔

JD Vance is a Catholic in name only, only to justify injustice to others under “Gods” name. We’ve seen this over and over again. It’s a grift.
