Feeling excited to get this work published soon (fingers crossed!) and already looking forward to next year’s meeting!

The last time I presented to a pain research audience was in 2022, and my thesis project has evolved a lot since then. It was really rewarding to share this new direction and see it resonate with others in the field & receive great feedback.

Had such a great time presenting my PhD research at this year’s US Association for the Study of Pain conference in Philadelphia. @usasp.bsky.social #neuroskyence #painresearch
Excited for my first USASP (US Association for the Study of Pain) conference! I present my poster on nociceptive processing in the medial thalamus during the Tuesday morning session (poster A12)- hope to see you there! #USASP2026 #painresearch #neuroskyence
GREAT NEWS! Congrats to my PhD advisor for being awarded tenure at University of Pennsylvania!! Goals!🤩🤓🧠👏🏾
Thanks for the highlight!!! A masterclass sounds fun 👀
Our very own @neuromelody.bsky.social is another master at this art - she won an 2025 award for it from @nationalacademies.org! I’ve been wondering if she should give a masterclass at Penn (calling @pennmindcore.bsky.social).

I really appreciate that this workshop has been very political/rooted in the reality of TODAY’s issues. No tip toeing around real-world issues that impact scicomm. We’re also a pretty diverse group of scientists, journalists, YouTubers, etc & hearing each other’s perspective is valuable. Loving it!

Our first full day at @nationalacademies.org Science Communication Excellence Award workshop is off to a strong start! I’m learning to humanize my #scicomm, strategic ways to battle misinformation, & the funding landscape for science journalism.
Heading to DC for a week-long science communication workshop with @nationalacademies.org where we'll be trained topics like freelancing, AI+scicomm, & reporting/publishing. We'll also be connecting with science journalists at NPR & receiving our Science Communication Excellence awards. SO EXCITED!!
Congratulations to @neuromelody.bsky.social and all the honorees!
Thank you Ishmail- it truly is a lot of fun!!
Thank you so much!!!
Thank you so much!!
It hasn't been easy to show up consistently in the science communication space during my PhD, but it has been so worth it & this affirms that! Looking forward to using the award to level up my platform & continue to share my passion for ground-breaking research discoveries with the general public!

I feel like using Claude to write/troubleshoot code >>>> using Chat GPT. Or maybe it's because I stopped using MATLab and graduated to Python lol
My favorite talk at this year‘s @blackinneuro.bsky.social conference from Black in AI founder Dr. Timnit Gebru. We discussed the problematic history of AI research, and reimagined a future in which AI is decentralized, well-defined, and less biased. Lots to think/read about from this one!

The professional development workshops at the @blackinneuro.bsky.social conference are def whipping us academics into shape! We’ve been encouraged to grow our personal brands, be consistent on LinkedIn, & brainstorm ways to incorporate innovation into our work to maximize our impact as scientists.
Writing the “discussion” section of my PhD paper is SO FUN. It really ties all the things I’ve been thinking and researching about together. I feel like such a genius/mad scientist rn haha
Do plants feel pain? From Venus flytraps snapping shut to stressed plants releasing ultrasonic "screams," @neuromelody.bsky.social explains how plants react to touch and damage in surprisingly similar ways to us.
