I have tried so hard for the last 2 months to only work on WIPs but I caved in this week and cast on a new sock. I got my Spring themed project bag out for it too - so pretty. Bag is by Bertie & Poppet on Etsy and the yarn is by the Fibre Fox.

#showmeyourknits week 24 shawls:
Omg I have so many but it appears I don’t have photos of most of them 😱. 2 I do have photos for are the Washed Out shawl by Joji Locatelli (yarn by Life in the Long Grass) and the Elfriede shawl by Shannon Cook (Cumbria yarn by the Fibre Company).

-2 🥶 but the park I walk Sadie in is so beautiful in this weather rather than the normal wet mud it’s been since October.

I do both, I use Knit Companion on my iPad for digital patterns but occasionally I’ll print patterns so I can highlight and write on. Honestly depends on how I’m feeling at the time.

You’re brave, I dread winding mohair lace even with a ball winder and yarn swift let alone without being caffeinated first 😅

Took me to the end of 2024 to start reading books by Brandon Sanderson. Completed Mistborn the Final Empire over Christmas and the Well of Ascension over New Year and am now halfway through the Hero of Ages.
Should I read Warbreaker or Way of Kings next?

Oh no! Mine did that once as a puppy but never since which I’m very glad of. They’re like a toddler when awake - have to be watched and any silence is suspicious 😂

Oh your doxy is beautiful 😍

There’s a crochet and knitting 🧶 feed and the use of #knitting 🧶 when you post. For books there’s a feed called Booksky.

Hello, knitter and nerd here. Currently knitting on either a sweater, socks or advent wrap depending on my mood. Currently reading The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson and loving it.

I haven’t been very active on here lately. Christmas and New year were busy and I’ve not been well either. Not much knitting happening other than trying to continue finishing socks that were already WiPs. This pair have made it to the second sock gusset decreases.

Rather than a Christmas Eve cast on, I have a Christmas Eve cast off!
Shorty socks made from Christmas present yarn. I don’t buy yarn from the USA due to customs charges but 2 years ago my son spent Christmas in New York and brought me this yarn from Woolyn, an exclusive to them colour 🧶

That’s beautiful. I’m finding knitting time hard to find at the minute, always something going on after work or at weekends. It’s becoming a case of sneaking an odd row here and there 😞

I actually don’t mind dpns or magic loop. I’ve also tried the 9” circulars too. I’ve never tried the 2 needles method though.

I found watching YouTube videos really helpful. Plus finding patterns with tutorials too.

I haven’t tried two at a time. Maybe when I finish off all my half done pairs I’ll give that a try.

I’ve never tried toe up socks to compare but I do love how quick top down goes after the gusset. I just find the heel itself tedious.

Love them!

Determined to cure my second sock syndrome by finishing off pairs of socks where I’ve knitted one and then not started or not finished the second sock. This second sock was abandoned for over a year at the heel turn but I’ve now made it halfway along the foot so not much further to go!

I use the Knit companion iPad app too, find it really helpful. If I do use a paper pattern I use different colour pens and mark or highlight the bits of the pattern relevant for my size and check off my progress as I go.

Been to see Lord of the Rings The War of the Rohirrim and loved it. The music and the opening scenes had me crying, as Rohan and the characters from the original films are big favourites. The story, animation and the characters were great, need more adaptations done this way.

I relate to this 🤣

I try to have a pair of vanilla socks for TV knitting or after work knitting if I’m tired. I find knitting without a pattern gets to me if I do too much though and end up casting on something with a pattern 🙄 I swear half of my lace pattern knits were started because of vanilla socks.

Yes that’s a great idea. I have a basket near the sofa which is full after I ran out of storage space. I’m now trying to rotate around the wips in the basket to get them done as they are visible. I’m working Christmas Eve so won’t be tempted to cast on something then like I normally do 😁

I’m undiagnosed ADHD (long story). I went through all my wips a couple of weeks ago and was horrified 😱 I’ve now put myself on a ban for new cast ons until I finish some……how long that will last though 😅

Yes, 3 times in fact over the years. I really enjoy the first and second age stories.
