Today marks the 109th anniversary of the loss of E18. In the early hours of 2nd of June 1916 E18 hit a mine from a Mine Barrier off the Island of Dagerort. On the discovery of E18 it was found that the conning tower hatch was open so she was on the surface when she hit the mine.

109 years ago E18 had a good day today, at 4:42 PM, E18 torpedoed the German destroyer V100, blowing off her bow. Had it not been for the calm seas, it is likely she would have sunk from the damage. The attack occured East of Gotland off the coast of Latvia. www.pns1814.co.uk/W%20G%20Powe...
109 years ago E18 left the port of Reval (Modern day Tallinn) on her last mission. The diary of Francis Goodhart, commander of E8, states that E1 and the Russian Bars departed at 1400 hrs, E8, E18 and the Russian Gerpard left port together at 1800 hrs on 25 May. www.pns1814.co.uk/W%20G%20Powe...

Sculpture of a Black man, woman and child on a boat from the top floor of Portchester castle, representing the thousands of prisoners of war from the Caribbean held there in the 1790s
Looking for a new place to visit this coming year - try Portchester castle in Hampshire and learn about the Caribbean revolutionaries held there as prisoners of war as well as about the Parisian prisoners who built a theatre on the ground floor of the keep
Happy Christmas from Pompey
