1942 political cartoon by Dr. Seuss. original drawing โ
U.C. San Diego Library. At left, a doorway with a turnstile reads "Pay your income tax here." At right, the ultra-wealthy avoid paying taxes by climbing into a "Tax-Empt Securities Loop Hole for rich." A little man representing the American taxpayer waits to climb into the escape hatch, but a large man representing the House Ways and Means Committee blocks his way. The large man says, "G'wan, small fry. You pay at the turnstile!" Meanwhile, a wealthy man in fine clothes has climbed onto the committee man's back, using him as a step stool to climb into the escape hatch.

Donโt take my word for it. I am not a scientist, scholar and I donโt have PhD. I just try reading the papers people throw at me, if they claim something suspicious (in my opinion).

A friend send that article, stating that Elixir scored the best during research. It was a post on Dashbit.
I decided to actually read the paper it was referring to. The study is flawed. One LLM coded, another LLM reviewed that. Human reviewers didnโt know Elixir so they never checked AI output.

It's a known recipe for disaster. Why do we keep giving these narcissistic living deviations all they want?

It's been known that Elon Mask is an awful person for a very long time. For me - since the moment he stole Tesla (the company, and technology) for inventors through court, being idiomatic "Edison" in this case. But many people kept praising him since then, both socially but also on TV.

Why all assholes end up at some point at the same place - violence against women and children in one form or another? Is it nature revealing to us what a terrible mistake it had made? Or is it, so we will know it's a dead branch of evolution and move on?

Very odd article. Or rather some personal thoughts. So much hate, but really no value. Still, fly.io canโt make a stable hosting platform even after so many years. With that attitude - I now understand why.

We tried electrisql and itโs a pain to implement besides their toy app examples. Write examples even for toy apps are complex enough. And you still need client to be JS - not LV.
In this regard so far only zero.rocicorp.dev worked out of the box as expected. It does mean going away from LV though

We solved first one partially with Web Components, but the second one is looking nearly impossible.

- Offline Mode - this is a big problem. I don't see any solution so far, that's why we thinking researching writing whole frontend client using Sveltekit + some Local-First stuff (like Zero Cache) for data replication.

- Server has no idea about the client even though it is doing work for the client. This means DOM environment - viewport stuff, portals, all the APIs you need to build complex UI components.

We're writing complex ERP with LiveView and we've been through all stages of hell initially, but it's settling down now. We started really eraly adopting LV, and now ended up building all components as Web Components with LV wrappers and hooks.
But the 2 main pain points are always the same:

A screenshot of a social media post that states a Florida woman was arrested this week after allegedly threatening a health insurance provider. Lakeland Police said the woman became increasingly upset during the call which she ended with delay denied depose you people are next.
On the left is a mugshot of Briana Boston, the middle aged white woman with blonde hair and a blue shirt. On the left is the mugshot of Luigi mangioni, He is a white man in his twenties with dark curly hair and thick eyebrows.
When I had a violent stalker who would graphically describe how he would have me gang raped, puncture my organs and and break all my bones, I was told the police "couldn't do anything".
Consider this a reminder that they absolutely โจcanโจ do something.
They just don't care about YOU.

We switched to Neon now, and really happy about it. Itโs cheaper to Supabase (supabase PITR costs $100 alone) and feels faster. Also autoscaling is really nice and reliable.

To be fair, their support is good and helpful. Everything basically is great, except reliability.

Yeah, it was their postgresql service. They warn itโs not managed db, but still. It doesnโt mean it can just disconnect. While I waiting for support answer I set up new cluster and migrated db, because prod canโt wait. We never figured what happened. Also, it was just one of many incidents.

Once prod db just got disconnected, and we could not connect it back. I see the pg service in admin, but fly machines donโt. After that I said enough is enough. I love the system they built - itโs amazing. It just unreliable as hell.
