Happy Nowruz
Nowruz is an ancient celebration of life & the triumph of light over darkness.
This is no doubt a difficult time for many of those celebrating Nowruz, the Persian New Year. And while it may signal pain & grief this year, we hope that it also brings peace & remains a symbol of unity & community.
Eid Mubarak
As we celebrate Eid, let’s hold space for both the joy and the heaviness that many may feel.
These times might feel difficult, but let's find courage in our shared humanity and strength in the love & communities that sustain us.
Sending love and solidarity to each of you. Eid Mubarak ❤️
As some people seek to divide us, Refugee Week 2026 calls us to come together & share the courage to welcome, to stand for what we believe in & to celebrate culture and community.
Through art, stories & community, Refugee Week celebrates the courage that lives within us all.
Join us 15–21 June.
If we believe in peace, we must defend the right for people to live safely.
We cannot ignore the conditions that force people to flee & then make the act of seeking safety harder.
As we prepare for Refugee Week, let’s recommit to upholding human rights with compassion.

Did you know that we're already celebrating University Refugee Week? 🎓
Through talks, creative events and shared conversations, the week invites students, staff and partners to explore how universities can offer meaningful support.
Visit refugeeweek.org to see how you can take part.
Go through the images to get inspiration and get started. And don’t forget to share what you do with us on social media using #SimpleActs and #RefugeeWeek
Simple Acts are small, everyday actions anyone can take to create connections and support refugees. No matter how you participate — whether you organise an event, join one hosted by others, or act alone — you can be part of a movement taking small steps towards big change.
🚨 We're super excited to announce our collaboration with the incredible Quentin Blake who's brought to life this year's Simple Acts.
Running from 15-21 June, Refugee Week invites us all to celebrate the creativity, contributions & resilience of refugees.

An important reminder this #InternationalMigrantsDay.
As long as we have existed, humans have always been on the move.
And for refugees around the world, courage is a crucial part of being on the move. Courage to face unknown journeys, learn new languages or simply to step into an uncertain world
At a time of increasing xenophobia, racism & anti-immigrant feeling, many refugees & organisations don’t feel safe to speak out or express themselves through art.
So now is the time for the arts & culture sector to show courage and solidarity. Read our open letter & get involved: buff.ly/syEEMRQ
We’re excited to announce the second Footnote x Counterpoints Prize, in collaboration with the Southbank Centre. This iteration of the prize isdedicated to fiction.
The Prize champions bold new literary voices whose stories offer fresh perspectives.

We're thrilled to reveal the artwork for this year's theme 'Community as a Superpower' illustrated by artist 8bitFaz.
Blending pixels, shapes and minimal colour palettes, 8bitFaz has captured the essence of community building.
#refugeeweek #communityasasuperpower
Our theme this year for Refugee Week is 'Community as a Superpower'.
As bell hooks says “We can begin the process of making community wherever we are. We can begin by sharing a smile, a warm greeting, a bit of conversation; by doing a kind deed or by acknowledging kindness offered to us.”
