Revisiting a favorite topic for #WomensHistoryMonth
One of my lifelong dreams is to be a full-time author. Medium is where I cultivate my voice, and as I work towards publishing my first zine (!!!), I'd love to know what you think about this being the topic. 😉

Life update! I’ve left the 9-5 and am making #museum inspired things as I pursue the independent historian life. Check it out at corvus-chromatics-shop.fourthwall.com
I’m back, baby! The BackStory is kicking off the new year with a look at Nina de Garis Davies, who documented countless Ancient Egyptian tombs using egg tempura, the only medium which could faithfully capture the original beauty of these vibrant murals.

Well, here goes! For five years, I've been combing archives, collecting books and primary sources, and digging into stories that most people would never think exist. It's time to start interpreting and sharing them. Now on #Substack: "Little #Witches" ~ open.substack.com/pub/historym...

T-minus 2 months, and we rock! 🎸 This community-driven exhibit is why I became a curator, and I can’t wait to share it with y’all.

Arts and culture budget cuts are continuing to pull the plug on the United States' memory.
Small museums in particular are under threat - and as they go dark, the stories of entire communities are vanishing into silence:

You can watch "Jonesville: When Sunflowers Fall" on WKU PBS here: youtu.be/TOAF2ly3Mh4?...
Hey #AAM2025 👋 Thursday's "Mobilizing Heritage in Museums to Promote Inclusion and Engagement: Part 2" discusses Jonesville + how a buon fresco mural at our museum became a Community Scholar project, a traveling exhibit, & now a PBS documentary! Go hear our incredible community share their story. 🫶
3 ways to fight for the NEH:
1) Talk loudly about humanities research and public programming
2) Join @modernlanguage.bsky.social and/or @historians.org because the more members we have, the more clout we have.
3) Help fund this lawsuit through Paving the Way: www.mla.org/About-Us/Sup...
Drawings planning shelving in a space with a pink ruler sat atop a laptop.
Computer rendering of a wall with panels featuring text and images for an exhibit
Miniature painting of an old man with cracked and peeling paint. The old man wears a white and blue cloak like outfit, and has a long white beard. The painting is in a wooden frame.
Black satin jacket with embroidery and a blue electric guitar, belonging to members of Cage the Elephant.
My lack of presence is entirely due to professional chaos. From planning collections moves to conserving our miniatures collection to working on the huge music exhibit opening in September, life is insane(ly good in some ways). I miss writing and sleeping, but this might be worth it. 🤞
So @xeshema.bsky.social made an absolutely gorgeous 😍 custom leather notebook portfolio for me (with pockets!). This lovely artisan deserves all the commissions!
Thanks to AAM for sharing this on their channels for #WomensHistoryMonth! I am so grateful for the 10 years of scholarly development, community-building, and friendships I gained at Girl Museum, and so excited to see their great work continue.

#OTD in 1942, FDR issued the heinous EO 9066, which forcibly incarcerated Japanese Americans. This free PBS film Alternative Facts: The Lies of Executive Order 9066 is a good watch for learning more about this xenophobic injustice and its lessons for the present: www.pbs.org/show/alterna...

“Cowardice asks the question, ‘Is it safe?’ Expediency asks the question, ‘Is it politic?’ But conscience asks the question, ‘Is it right?’ And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but because conscience tells one it is right.”

So I deleted TT last night. And in the last 12 hours, my mental health has skyrocketed. I *want* to write again. I’m researching right now. And with them crediting Cheeto while Biden is STILL IN OFFICE…yeah, I’m good thanks.
This is awful. I absolutely LOVED the Museum of the Earth when I lived in upstate New York - their collections, exhibits, and programs are fantastic. Please spread the word - and, if you can, support them! (I have all the Paleozoic Pals because they are THAT CUTE.)
