Casualties in Trump’s war on the arts: the small museums keeping local history alive | Los Angeles | The Guardian Institutions in Los Angeles and beyond have seen millions in grants wiped away almost overnight. What happens when they can’t tell their stories?

Arts and culture budget cuts are continuing to pull the plug on the United States' memory.

Small museums in particular are under threat - and as they go dark, the stories of entire communities are vanishing into silence:

My lack of presence is entirely due to professional chaos. From planning collections moves to conserving our miniatures collection to working on the huge music exhibit opening in September, life is insane(ly good in some ways). I miss writing and sleeping, but this might be worth it. 🤞

“Cowardice asks the question, ‘Is it safe?’ Expediency asks the question, ‘Is it politic?’ But conscience asks the question, ‘Is it right?’ And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but because conscience tells one it is right.”
