"we all are seemingly indulging Keir Starmer's performative cluelessness" - Jo Grady @drjogrady.bsky.social on #Newsnight

Labour short-straw-champ, John Slinger, says it's neither cluelessness or incompetence + on Keir's excuses: "not only do I buy it, I believe it" 😶‍🌫️

Staggering. Wilful blindness.

Marking boycott looms at Goldsmiths over £20m of cuts to staff Staff at Goldsmiths, University of London, have overwhelmingly voted for industrial action in a fight to protect jobs, UCU announced today.

🚨 1 in 4 staff at Goldsmiths to be axed.

All while senior management get eye-watering pay rises and £16m is spent on consultants and lawyers.

This is the reality of Higher Education in the UK.

Our members have voted for industrial action, support them.

This is life for Palestinian children. The world does nothing.

Fair Work Agency’s priorities criticised days before its launch Cornerstone of the UK’s Employment Rights Act ‘in danger of becoming a dead duck’, says Unite boss

Too late to be an April fool, but apparently a priority for the the newly launched employment rights watchdog, the Fair Work Agency, will be “reducing regulatory burdens”

I had assumed they’d be enforcing (via inspections) and extending regulation…

Twelve years ago today, we lost Tony Benn.

Tony was an inspiration. Unwavering in his commitment to peace, democracy, and socialist values.

He was also incredibly generous with his time, giving me a morning in house in 2010, to interview him for my PhD.

You are missed, Tony💘

Reform mayor of Lincolnshire has voted to slash ESOL.

A clear signal of the damage Reform intends to inflict on our communities.

Demanding migrants speak English then cutting the very provision that makes that possible.

If Matt Goodwin is serious about his concerns that women are delaying motherhood, he should demand:

- Better employment security for women
- Better maternity rights
- Better maternity pay
- Free or at least affordable childcare
- Equal pay for women
- Equal pensions for women

We now need to see widespread support and media pressure for justice for every actionist who has been wrongfully held in prison as a result of the unlawful proscription.

It’s worth saying, any right minded person could have told you it was immoral, let alone unlawful.

Speaking in gentle tones to pensioners while arresting them for opposing genocide will remain a moral stain for years to come.

Not only does the University of Edinburgh have net assets of £3.1bn, but they have a surplus of £43mn. Yet, in the name of savings, the university continues to pursue redundancies which harm students, staff, and the institution itself.

An utter disgrace.
