You got me with that second one!
- to be more physically intimidating
- to give more uncomfortable handshakes (my forearms are shaped like bowling pins, and my hands are tough, leathery, and smell faintly of mahogany)
- for the satisfying feeling of defying conventional beauty standards
- because being jacked is fun
- to sleep better, improve heart health, and reduce anxiety and stress
- for the daily actions of discipline that keep you grounded during chaotic and unpredictable times
- to build body confidence and internal security to be less likely to tolerate disrespect
A non-exhaustive list of some very valid reasons to strength train and prioritize your nutrition:
- to be stronger than fascists
- to be able to help your disabled and elderly loved ones
- to build physical autonomy in the present and as you age
- to be harder to kill
- because lifting is fun
There is no "debate" over the Nazi salute because we all saw him do a Nazi salute. There are just some people who are either experiencing too much cognitive dissonance to accept that's what they saw or are willing to intentionally lie about it
