Learn about how mnemonic brain states support both episodic and semantic retrieval! Check out one of my lab’s posters (C72) at the 5-7p poster session tonight at #cns2026

New paper from my lab showing evidence that the retrieval state is engaged following rather than preceding stimulus onset. This suggests that the retrieval state reflects internal attention recruited once an attentional target has been specified.

New paper from my lab! @moorecogneuro.bsky.social shows that memory brain states are diminished or less robustly engaged in healthy older adults compared to young and middle-aged adults. longtermmemorylab.com/wp-content/u...

Check out my lab’s posters at #CNS2025 Sunday 5-7pm: C2, C15, and C63! Engage your encoding state to learn about memory brain states, false memories, and memory changes in healthy aging.

Top-Down Task Goals Induce the Retrieval State Engaging the retrieval state ([Tulving, 1983][1]) impacts processing and behavior ([Long and Kuhl, 2019][2], [2021][3]; [Smith et al., 2022][4]), but the extent to which top-down factors—explicit inst...

My lab has a new paper out at jneuro showing that top-down task goals can induce the retrieval state even during novel items — suggesting that internal attention may be recruited in service of the attempt to access a stored representation. www.jneurosci.org/content/44/3...

I use asana (free version) — all my lab has access and I think anyone can be invited via email. Not sure about calendar integrations, might be possible w/the paid version.
