You participation will directly help my PhD dissertation work and you can tell your friends that you have helped out dolphin research!
Excited to see the results! πΊπ¬

Clearly I have made the decision to venture into another social media platform. At this point in time I will only be making baby steps here until I become a little more familiar with how bsky works. It's hard to teach an old dog (yours truly) new tricks.

I should! I'd either do Golden, Delacour's, or Francois' probably
Yucatan Black Howler (Alouatta pigra)! A friend/colleague of mine here at UTSA works with them!
A kind old lady American Shepherd looks at the camera before eating the peanut butter and banana dog-friendly gelato we got her for her 18th birthday.
It's been a week-ish and it's definitely still a raw wound.
I know you're up there waiting at the edge of a yard for me, Krickett π
Thank you! Theeeee @banditelli.org is incredibly talented
I love this
A pair of Yucatan Black Howlers (Alouatta pigra) sing out in their Maya Nut Tree (Triplochiton scleroxylon) home. Also in the canopy is a Blue Morpho (Morpho peleides) and a Mexican Hairy Dwarf Porcupine (Coendou mexicanus).
Finally got this done! π πΊ
@prancingpapio.bsky.social DR!!!! DR!!!! DR!!! π₯³π₯³π₯³π₯³
Also got to meet @sciencebarbie.bsky.social in person after being mutuals for years! How incredible! π¬πΊ
An anthropologist stands at his poster labeled "The Role of Wildlife Charisma and Where it Comes From" and passionately talks about the northern right whale dolphins he studies.
Rather feeling this amazing candid of me presenting at #SFAA2025! I had a blast learning about Anthropology's role in conservation (especially in regards to marine resources!) as well as sharing my own brand of "Dolphin Anthropology" ππ¬πΊ
Love em ππ¬
Omg maybe maybe π
Question for the hive mind - does anyone know of a survey site that would allow participants to rank images? π§ͺπ¬πΊ
So many people have shared with me the story of the astronauts landing and immediately being greeted by the dolphins. It's clear they're curious and playful and there's something really wonderful about it ππ¬πΊ
A fun dive into a speculative evolution project I'm a part of - the great island of Salotum, home to the Aputsum Brubafa and a whole cast of endemic species, like the Salotian Rhinoceros! π§ͺ #speculativeevolution
A pair of Yucatan Black Howlers howl in unison in the canopy of a breadnut tree. The monkeys are surrounded by bromeliads, a blue morpho butterfly, and a Mexican Hairy Dwarf Porcupine
Making a lot of progress on this piece ππ§ͺπΊ
Today, a broad coalition of scientific professional societies who represent over 92,000 scientists are speaking out against the politicization and demonization of Federally funded science and government scientist jobs.
It was an honor to help the Union of Concerned Scientists with this! π§ͺπ
Working in conservation is a funny thing, especially when my study species are currently listed as Least Concern (but with Unknown Population Trends, and knowledge that their suitable habitat range is shrinking?)
Gonna do everything I'm able to protect them π¬πΊπ§ͺ
Red List Status & Extinction Risk of the Worldβs Whales, Dolphins and Porpoises published in Conservation Biology showed that 1 in 4 cetacean species (26% of 92) were assessed as threatened (Critically Endangered, Endangered, Vulnerable)

Though nowhere near as expansive as human conflicts, brubafa warfare is well documented, particularly in Salotumβs Aputsum people. Rarely equipped in more than light armor, those of high status adorned their garbs with jewel beetles to further augment their opulence.
Water down - really loving this so far. This is the canopies of a Belizean rainforest (Maya Nut or Breadnut, Brosimum alicastrum) with bright green leaves and a bright blue sky. Critters are around here too, and I can't wait to get the bromeliads in too!
A lovely seen in the canopy of a Breadnut πΊ #sciart
Really excited for this piece featuring Yucatan Black Howlers (Alouatta pigra), along with a Blue Morpho (Morpho peleides) and a Mexican Hairy Dwarf Porcupine (Coendou mexicanus) up in the canopy of a Breadnut (Brosimum alicastrum). This piece is made even lusher with the inclusion of many species of epiphytes "air plants" including several species of bromeliad. It was super fun to do research for this piece and I can't wait to paint it!
A new art start featuring Yucatan Black Howlers (Alouatta pigra), a species that my friend studies! πΊ
Brubafa are born less altricial than humans and gain motor skills such as walking within a few days after birth. For this reason, they can be quite a handful for parents and caregivers!
A few dolphins splashing in the wake of our whale watching vessel.
Happy #WorldWhaleDay everyone! Here's a few Long-beaked Common Dolphin (Delphinus delphis bairdii) I saw back in January! π¬πΊ
