Are MPAs in the transition zone between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea effective? We have mapped cumulative effects of multiple stressors in the Skagerrak. Anchored in this, and a statistical model, we have compared pressures within outside the MPAs. Most MPAs are so-called 'paper parks'.

🚨 New perspective piece - How to face Environmental crises? By aligning actions across roles, ecologists & environmental scientists can do more for a sustainable future, and professional societies can help them!

We reviewed 73 professional societies across 42 countries.
Only 18% had codes of ethics or similar documents addressing responsibilities of individual members.

Most focus on advancing science & far fewer articulate responsibilities toward sustainability or society.

Despite decades of research, environmental crises continue to escalate.

So we asked: Are ecologists and environmental scientists (EES) doing enough — and do we have clear guidance for how to act?

Fantastic study on the adaptation of species populations on temperature changes, led by former #sDiv Postdoc Viktoriia Radchuk.

This is part of the #synthesis group @idiv-research.bsky.social www.idiv.de/straitchange & also shows how long it sometimes takes to finish complex studies.

Absolutely! Esp while they allow the writing for that part also be suppirted by AI.

We here in sDiv, the synthesis centre moved away from it & ask directly for the problem/question & its justification.

We should put more trust in our colleagues & decrease work loads

3 months ago 1 0 1 0

The German research foundation @dfg.de allows AI assisting its review processes.

Another way of reducing the massive unpaid workload in these processes is to decrease the length of proposal to focus on the most important parts (e.g. 5 (?) pages of state of the art isn't important).
