Bright May Alpine flowers sway in the light breeze against the backdrop of spectacular peaks still covered in snow.
I love fall and winter. But once in a while I do long for the lush summer meadows in the middle of November.

An old Swiss farm house nestled at the foot of the mountain with trees climbing up the steep cliffs. The photo was taken mid Nov and the trees sport the deep colors of late fall: dark greens of the pines and browns of the deciduous ones.
A village road runs in the shade of two mountain walls shaping the Lauterbrunnen valley, towards the shining white peaks in the distance lit by the low evening sun.
#Lauterbrunnen valley is one of the most remarkable landscapes in #Switzerland. It has grown very popular with tourists, however surrounding areas offer excellent hiking routes with stunningAlpine views (and not too crowded).
Both shots made with an old #Sony #a6000, which still is a great camera.
Brightly lit, snow covered peaks of Eiger and Mönsch in the Bernese Alps, framed by green firs in the foreground against the bright blue backdrop of the sky
Nothing beats a day in the #Alps, especially when the low autumn sun is so bright and clear.
I am using my old Sony a6000 with 35mm/F1.8 lens and I can’t get enough of its clear and crisp captures. Image unedited directly from the camera.
I am not a sports person, but I’m sure it will be a great match!
Two golden larches hanging above the cliff with snow capped Matterhorn and other ridges in the far distance.
A steep slope aflame with fall-colored larches
High alpine meadow above the tree line painted bright rusty orange by the season with deep blue sky making a perfect contrast
Happy me against a dramatic backdrop of the distant snow caps, with my 15 year old hound still excited to hit the trail.
Fall colors are here. We were lucky to have one brilliantly sunny day before the rains came. All oranges and deep golds against the blues of the skies and the Alps. Couldn’t be prettier.

Snow in summer, 4000m above sea level. The ingenuity of cable cars 🚠 never ceases to amaze me and while I know they are safe and secure, each ride definitely tickled my nerves

Have a view! At the top of Rigi Kulm, an easy day trip for people of all abilities, including young kids. Very accessible thanks to a cogwheel train all the way from Vitznau on Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee).
A sunny spot
This shot made me realize I know very little about Greenland and it’s landscape. When I hear “Greenland” I think “glaciers” rather than mountain peaks, but of course where there are fjords, there are rocks. Thanks for inspiring to do some research!
My wonderful partner in hiking and many other crimes (to be clear: only one of us keeps eating illegal things on the street. It’s not me). Can’t believe how gray his snout is now, but Mr Hound is still tail up all the way.

Wow, look at those talons!
Deep green of the forest against the blue of the Alps. I was inspired to go see larches today in Balavaux partly by The Treeline by @benrawlence.bsky.social. A beautiful book, and awesome trees.
(Not all trees on the photos are larches, it’s a mixed forest)

Amazing shot. So much character.
A few close-ups from today’s adventures. An easy, but delightful #hike to see old larches in Balavaux (Haute-Nendaz), #Switzerland.
I will include the link to the route in the comments.
This path to the #GornerGlacier at 3000m, above the tree line and the noise of the world, was sublime. A reminder how small we are in this vast landscape.
Lauterbrunnen was one of my top 3 hikes in Switzerland. We were lucky to be there on a cloudy day with intermittent drizzle and it gave the valley and the waterfalls such a rich, moody character. Never seen anything quite like it.
My favorite #hike so far: to the #GornerGlacier. Riffelsee area is quite touristy, with a swanky hotel and a restaurant on top of the #Gortnergrat. But a path to the #glacier is breathtaking and away from the tourists. “Stunning” doesn’t begin to describe it.
They are installed by the city (some look like old-school phone booths) and are actively used by residents to exchange reads. There are at least 5 of them within 10 min walk from us.
A metal public trash bin with doggy poop bags dispenser next to a book box or “little library” to exchange books on a regular street corner in a Swiss town. Most Swiss public trash bins dispense free poop bags (o.k. paid by dog tax), and free book boxes that are installed by municipalities and are very popular.
2 of my favorite things in Switzerland:
1) almost every public trash bin has a free doggie 💩 bag dispenser. A no-brainer, but I haven’t seen it anywhere else.
2) free book boxes.
These are such cite animals!

An evening stroll. #peaceful
The bestest boy in the world. This snout might be turning gray, but still looks pretty royal, and no crumb will ever escape this nose on our daily long walks despite all my vigilance. And no one cuddles like he does. #dogsky
A close up of a new cone on a green cedar branch, lit by an evening sun, with drops of sap like little jewels.
An old #cedar making cones on a city street. Love these giants, although I am learning they are not native to #Switzerland, even though many are very old.
