A sculpture of the fates, looking at Lachesis, with Clotho in profile, made in cardboard, plaster bandage, salvaged thread, tiny metal scissors, sticks, foliage, paper towels, tape, glue, chenille wire and floral wire
Another angle, showing Atropos with her scissors and a lap full of cut threads. A sculpture of the fates, made in cardboard, plaster bandage, salvaged thread, tiny metal scissors, sticks, foliage, paper towels, tape, glue, chenille wire and floral wire
An unfinished mixed media painting with a cut out realistic hand painting on top
Today's dispatch from 3d design and painting class. The Fates in mixed media and found objects and an unfinished mixed media painting with collage and 3d elements.
As a student teacher going for an Art Education degree, I had to write a classroom tech policy document. It was to include AI policy.
My words were pretty much "Don't use AI. You can't learn without making mistakes. Please make your own mistakes."
I don't know how to enforce it, or if I should.
I hope they can fix it for you. Treatment can be magic when it works.
I sympathize from my zombie girl days (the height of my PSA/psoriasis flare).
Kid is off to the convention with his friend, and they both very much looked their parts.
A person taking a photo against a patched plaster wall, reflected in a mirror mounted horizontally at eye level in a paneled wall where a built in cabinet used to be, framed by partially repaired plaster. There is a shelf above the mirror with tools and a spray bottle on it, and some debris is on the floor.

I will believe that LLMs have become actual creative AIs when we find their closely guarded notebooks of personal art and fics that they don't want anyone to see.
Sometimes I think of the kid I used to play with when I was little, who had the most generic name, and who was AMAB but came over to my house to play with dolls and dress up as a princess.
I hope whoever that little kid grew up to be is happy.
In my case I got 8 monthly visits of "Yes, I know you aren't allowed to have someone come in with you to support you because of COVID restrictions, but can you please stop screaming and clinging to the walls when you attempt to stand up?" and THEN I got a referral to rheumatology.
Oh yes, this is something I've wondered when comparing the two bodies of narratives.
These are WONDERFUL.
April 17: Doodle
A tiny painting on a post it note counts, right?

Octopus mermaid head study. She is blue and purple, has large red eyes with u-shaped pupils and a smiling light blue false mouth centered below them and dual siphons on either side of her "face" as part of her mimicry
April 16: Colorful
This one kind of goes with the unfinished octopus mermaid doll, some of the concept art for her.
Pencils, scanned and colored using a paint program (not sure which, I have about six). Eventually, she will look like this. I got sidelined by making her eyes.

An articulated, unclothed skeleton girl doll wearing lipstick, with blue bobbed hair ornamented with red flowers and leaves, entirely made of chenille craft wire, snuggling with an unfinished octopus mermaid doll made of felted wool. He head is unfinished, so she has no face yet on her simple rounded head, and only half her markings and details have been applied, her mantle and markings are purplish and the rest of her is plain undyed wool. They are photographed against a sheet printed with a galaxy and stars pattern.
Had a super busy long day at school on Wednesday and didn't post, then I got sick on Thursday :(
So, today, I'm doing April 15, 16 and 17th, starting with this one:
Soft for the 15th. I still need to finish that octopus girl.

Figures that the night the roof leak keeps me awake is the night that bsky goes down.
*literally shakes fist at multiple types of clouds*
And bbses. The closest I ever got to that online was Usenet, and then livejournal. It was actually social.
I miss hanging out in a coffee place. Cafe, late night diner, coffee house, whatever. That world feels as distant as a fairytale.
A truly creepy increase in the rate of predatory "can we buy your house" coldcalls and junkmail.
Atropos, mostly done, plaster bandage, wreath of wilted mulberry leaves that should dry out in time for the due date, pipe cleaner hands
Clotho and Lachesis heads assembled and set in place stop the cardboard base structure, looking very creepy
The sculpture as I left it, mostly covered and with base layers of plaster with crumpled paper supports assembled, bare pipe cleaner armatures for the arms secured with plaster bandage, and bare branches stuck in temporarily
Another view of the partially completed sculpture
Update on the sculpture:
Partway done on figural sculpture is always very creepy. Strong weeping angel vibes.
One face of a multimedia sculpture made with primarily found materials, which is going to depict the spinner, the measurer, and the cutter of the thread of life. So far, cardboard, plaster bandage, wadded up paper toweling, gummed paper tape. Soon to include foraged plant material, pipe cleaners, wire, small scissors, wool, and other things.
Other final, for 3d design, Thread of Fate, so far:
A roughed in acrylic painting of a right hand on a canvas board, from which it will be cut out when complete.
I wish I had time to do my final painting project (mixed media, about me, but not a portrait) in oils. Oils are What You See Is What You Get, while acrylics ... change over time as they dry.
It would be so much easier to paint my hand study, the focus of the project, in oils. Behold my zombie hand.
Didn't they start out with the founder stealing the domain from/buying it off a domain squatter that had sniped it from an avian supply site, or am I just conflating that with other domain squatting horror stories?
My art professor keeps telling me that my my plans for my final projects are ambitious.
Well, yeah.
I *could* just do something that would be easy for me, but if it's easy, then I'm not really learning, am I?
I feel like we're all in a room with a few people chaining the doors shut from the inside and talking excitedly to us about how much money they are going to make by harvesting all our organs.
And nobody is trying to stop them.
It sounds like the name of a villain from a cheesy tv show.
Four glazed ceramic pots, 2 with lids, awaiting the next firing
Violent slam wedging of reclaim? Check.
No time on the wheel for me, glazing instead, and doing an actual assignment. That was making 10 glaze tiles. So I did that, with 25 of the underglazes.
Then I narrowed my search by date to pre-2022. Suddenly, all kinds of new details popped up. More specific and better information. I was able to apply that new old info and recovery got smoother. Everything new has been smoothed down to the median so much it's useless or wrong. 4/
(photo styling, food preparation, photography and post post processing all by me.)
Today my plan for ceramics class is more violent slam wedging of reclaim, coaching the ceramics 1 students on the wheel and throwing some things in red stoneware.
I update with whatever I manage to actually do, but I've dressed to get spattered with various colors of mud.
