Salut BlueSky !

There are currently 6 permanent full time history jobs in the whole UK. 500+ PhDs being produced a year - not all of whom will want to pursue an academic year but likely most, and of course years will stack up onto each other. What a sector.

It's obvious that the US admin is a personalist regime in which immediate decisions depend on Trump's volatile whims and on his sycophantic minions trying to keep up. But what happens after Trump? How do you undo something that has been years and even decades in the making?

I truly despise the CAQ but widening inequality is not it's doing alone -- as the stats for the ROC (and elsewhere) indicate. What's depressing is that neither the PQ nor the PLQ want to do anything to try to reverse the trend; more likely the reverse.

Every Middle Easterner who knows anything is going to be warning the world that you cannot trust Israel while we get ignored while Israel triggers another war and fucks it all up again.

Understand this if nothing else: Israeli politics needs war. That’s how they resolve tensions between them.

Okay, but if there is an effective cease-fire then the need to patrol the straits becomes less necessary. It would take an intl agreement with a credible US commitment not to attack Iran again. Is that plausible?

"The only option for the long-term survival of the NDP is option 3 — a radical departure from the status quo… The changes need to be radical… & anything less than that won’t work"

A colonized mindset is a difficult one to break but we must decolonize & shed the neoliberal Can-Euro/Can-USian models.
