Thank you Richard Newby of the @thr.com! "Boorman and the Devil is ultimately inspirational, and a call for filmmakers to worry less about providing a perfect product, and instead focus on inventiveness and belief in the story they really want to tell."
this is like an SNL piece but without the jokes
I would like a prescription for this drug
Thank you Dan Doody for making BOORMAN AND THE DEVIL one of your programmer's pics for the Seattle International Film Festival!
I wish the film didn't want to be HEAT quite so much. Also BLACKHAT > CRIME 101. But it's still good, mostly due to the performances and especially Berry in a role that could have easily been a cliche but she made it real.

who on earth would shame you for loving that video?? it's definitively a classic and totally holds up. it also changed music videos forever. it's like saying "don't shame me for liking WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT"
In filmmaking, it starts with the worst part (writing), proceeds to the second worst part (production), then gets to the fun parts (editing, mix, postproduction) and by the time it's playing in front of people you've forgotten how indescribably awful that blank blinking cursor was.
Sean Burns gives Boorman and the Devil the rave it deserves. #filmsky ๐ฝ๏ธ @splicedpersonality.bsky.social @davidkittredge.bsky.social

Some of the best films take a second or third viewing to really appreciate. There are filmmakers that this is particularly true of-- PTA is one, Kubrick, Altman, Haynes, Kurosawa, many others. These are the films that have deep subtextual stuff going on.
Jesus Christ who are these people
It's his most underrated and underappreciated, and absolutely one of his best.
Caveat: I literally have no idea what Phil was posting about.

THREAD: I got laid off from NYMag/Vulture after 14 years. The family lost 75% of income + medical. Now mzs.press bookstore, once a side project. is do-or-die for Judith & I. I feel weird telling you this because others are doing much worse. But if you could like or share this, we'd be so grateful!
