The stiffness is likely just reflecting the inflammation?
The current administration’s narrative that Harvard (and all universities) feel “entitled” to federal dollars misleads the public. Nor are these funds a “privilege” 1/n
Introducing our single-cell DVP framework combining strategic cell selection with protein gradient mapping algorithms. Analyzing hepatocyte proteomes across 18 human livers, revealing cross-species differences, and mapping disruptions in liver fibrosis.

We do not routinely biopsy but we are doing it more often than before.
I am big proponent for biopsy before systemic therapy as wrote in this review pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC....
But I still do not think the evidence is strong enough to make it into the guidelines.

📍don’t delay AC
📍can hold AC for EGD for 48 hours
📍AC does NOT increase risk of bleeding from varices while you wait for EGD

A much needed option for this very heterogenous and challenging disease which can literally affect any organ but prominently liver and bile ducts.

Two truths and a lie
Truth: There are adverse events from MMR and all vaccines.
Truth: People die, albeit very, very, VERY rarely.
BIG FUCKING LIE: the MMR does NOT cause measles or any sequelae. It prevents measles. It’s safe and effective. Measles disables & kills children. Vaccinate your kids

Interesting, what was the GGT? I haven’t seen this in my practice, but apparently can happen rarely, here is a nice study pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33229138/
Biggest?!
In these unprecedented dark times for American life science and medical research (no less well beyond biomedicine), my coping mechanism is to laser focus on the unremitting and remarkable daily advances, and the fervent hope these will not be slowed or interrupted.
What happened
SCI Member Hanlee Ji & others found that #GastricCancer precursors exhibit variable progression rates. A 26-gene panel was identified, linked to advanced lesions, suggesting immature intestinal cells play a key role in carcinogenesis. www.nature.com/articles/s41...
Why not treat all the large varices? Is the idea to decrease risk of post banding ulcer bleed? And unless it’s actively spurting at the time of scope, it’s not always obvious which the bleeder is, right?
Today, a broad coalition of scientific professional societies who represent over 92,000 scientists are speaking out against the politicization and demonization of Federally funded science and government scientist jobs.
It was an honor to help the Union of Concerned Scientists with this! 🧪🌎

Impact of liver decom on clinical outcomes on atezobeva
📌OS better in CP A vs CP B
📌No differences in TTP/safety
📌Liver decomp: 28% CP A vs 51% CP B
📌41% resume after decomp

A vertical image of a region of a molecular cloud. The orange cloud is dense and bright close to the top right, where it also appears like rolling clouds, and grows darker and more wispy toward the bottom and in the top left corner. One bright star with six short diffraction spikes and several dimmer stars are visible among the clouds.
Resembling sand swirling in water, this region of a molecular cloud was observed by #NASAWebb. In mid-infrared light, several dim stars and one bright star with diffraction spikes appear.

It affects all of us!
Presently, an estimated 60-70 million Americans are suffering from GI diseases. That is why consistent and sustainable funding from NIH is necessary to support innovative research and treatment development.
Please take a minute to tell Congress to stop NIH cuts!

A whole generation of early career scientists and physician-scientists, including colleagues and myself, are particularly vulnerable to these funding freezes and cuts, with jobs and careers depending on federal grants.

Inspired by Herblock.
@NIH needs thoughtful, deliberate, transparent, and accountable reform.
Not this chaos!
Instead of uniting, many are exploiting the crisis to push their own agendas.
This division leaves our community fractured while decades of progress is being recklessly discarded!
Let’s unite our voices !
Hiring Alert!
