Last week in Massachusetts a woman killed a 10-year-old girl days after police found her under the influence, asleep behind the wheel with her car in a crosswalk. Her license was not even suspended.

"the vehicle killed"
they use passive voice on purpose to preemptively exonerate the driver
Police officers ticketing illegal parking in #RegentsPark today.
Ah, finally. After a year of no enforcement they have finally seen illegal parking is endangering children cycling to school.
Whoops, no. It turns out Princess Anne is opening the new Elizabeth II garden today. It was optics.
89 candles would have set off the sprinklers, so we settled for one — and one perfect slice of cake (with @bradtakei.bsky.social on ice cream duty). Thank you to every friend, fan, and fellow traveler who has made these 89 years such a joyous voyage.

“Are you the branch manager?”
“Yes I am, how can I help you?”
“I would like two branches, please.”
“How would you like that?”
“Two big sticks, four little sticks.”
It really is about time that cyclists are compelled to pass a test, have insurance and maintain a license and registration plate at all times.

Here's a govt petition to reduce the default limit on rural single carriageway roads from 60 down to 30. Seems a sensible suggestion to me. Obviously individual limits could be higher. They would just need to be signed.

a narrow street with a pub on the corner
where the hell am I supposed to park to have a pint?
this is the nightmare all those urbanists want.
Apparently, the double yellow lines on the corner designate a parking area reserved for vehicles equipped with those flashing orange "I'm parked illegally" lights.
The driver has been charged with attempted murder.
Not sure why it's so hard for the BBC to say that. You can bet your arse that if it was a person on a bike they'd be saying cyclist.

Ippudo is amazing, this is awful
What I've heard repeatedly this weekend on this website:
- This is inevitable
- There's nothing we can do
- It's the building's parents fault
- Building should be driving defensively
- Building wasn't following the rules of the road
- Where's it's high viz & helmet?
A sceenshot of a screenshot of a screenshot of a screenshot.
It's screenshots all the way down...
Utterly disgraceful way to start a news report.
"Debra Stalker, who had a 35 year blemish-free driving record, clipped the biker on Clover Hill Road in Norwich on September 10 last year."

This proof should include requiring that the entire board of the company running out into the road from behind a parked truck in front of one of their robotaxis.
If they are not willing to do that, then they are admitting that their robots are too dangerous to be on the road.

people get hella mad when you say adult drivers should be more responsible than children on our streets.
Laura’s 7yo places books in a little free library. A pile of books remain inside the Bunch bike parked nearby
Day 19 of #30DaysOfBiking
I helped the kids clean out their bookshelves this weekend & today we rode around, dropping off about 75 books they don’t read anymore into Little Free Libraries across the neighborhood.

Rode legally through a roundabout today. An SUV had to yield. Because her time is clearly worth more than mine, she laid on the horn, sped past, and flipped me the bird while yelling. The entitlement of motoring culture is exhausting.
I can't be the only one wondering...
🎶Who Let The Duck Out? Who? Who?🎶
1. they don't even come close to covering the costs of the road
2. since road wear is proportional to vehicle weight to the 4th power, these companies should be paying x^4 what we do

About being the oldest pub on the Thames.
The Prospect dates back to 1520 - it's a short walk from here.
My wife was almost killed yesterday by a pickup truck driver swerving at full gas inches from her, around another car who stopped to let us cross in a crosswalk. All while blasting his horn. So I really don't have any patience today for this "bikes don't follow the rules" bullshit.
The Prospect of Whitby would like a word.
An image of a person with a pushchair down a residential street near inconsiderately parked cars. The person is wearing striped clothing and walking past a black car. The setting includes brick buildings and a view of houses on a hill in the background.
It's happening! 📢
On Tuesday, MPs will consider an amendment to enable local leaders to ban pavement parking in their area. We need you to help us get this amendment on to the Bill.
Ask your MP to agree to Amendment 265 when it's considered on Tuesday: https://bitly.livingstreets.org.uk/4tMU2Uq
“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back to a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”
IT SAVES PUBLIC MONEY to house people.
Uninsured driving isn’t victimless. Offenders are 6–7x more likely to be in a fatal crash, and over half are linked to wider criminality—reflecting risk-taking, disregard for the law, or deception. It pushes up costs for honest drivers. Tackling it protects communities.

This is why we should design our streets to eliminate as much risk as possible. That means lower speeds and better visibility. Mistakes do happen, which is why we should use infrastructure to reduce the consequences of those mistakes.
