The difficulty in Spirit of Eternal Racer v0.5 is now selectable β
But I just noticed the steering sensitivity is way too high π
The car handles like a shopping cart on ice. Working on it!

Good news: v0.5 demo of Spirit of Eternal Racer is in testing π
Bad news: it might be too hard π
A few final touches left before release β one of them is definitely tuning down the difficulty.
Coming in a few days!

Testing two new things in Spirit of Eternal Racer
ποΈ USB steering wheel support β because a racing game deserves a proper wheel
π₯ New side crash animation β for when you "gently" kiss the wall or another car at full speed
Still WIP but it's coming together!

The circuit is almost complete!
Now comes the best part: adjusting the track to emulate the real one and testing. Check out the latest progress on Youtbe

Back at the track! ποΈπ¨
Currently building and testing another iconic circuit for #SpiritOfEternalRacer. I still have to adjust some corners.
Can you guess which circuit it is? π

Making movement feel real in SoER!
All cars have been remade for higher detail, featuring new lateral sprites, animated wheels, skid marks, and better collisions.

Comparison of 3D car models for the game Spirit of Eternal Racer. First, a basic model from Hunyuan 3D 2. Then, a much more detailed model from Trellis 2.
I'm rebuilding all the cars with Trellis 2 for a higher level of detail. Don't miss the post on @itch.io for more details about this!

Did my first YouTube Live test run!
I'm setting up to stream game tests and new features soon. This video has a couple of test races with different cars.
β οΈ Video is entirely in Spanish.

Is chasing realism in a retro racer worth it?
I'm really happy with how the Ricardo Tormo circuit turned out, considering the limitations of the engine. Check out the videos in the article and see for yourself!

Something like that, but I would say more like the first Nigel Mansell and Vroom :)
- Added sounds when colliding with other cars
- New version of the speedometer for a more detailed one.
- Finally, the loading screen has been redesigned to be more in line with the rest
#IndieDev #RetroGaming #GameDev #Linux #Devlog #ScreenshotSaturday
- Improved the dust effect with a couple of different animations that change based on the car's speed, making the effect much more realistic when you go off-track.
#IndieDev #RetroGaming #GameDev #Linux #Devlog #ScreenshotSaturday
I've been focusing on sound and gfx effects lately!
Hereβs whatβs new:
- The tires screech when the car slides in corners. It attenuates dynamically based on the lateral force
- The Brenn M1 (white) car has a new engine sound.

Here's a look at some of what I've been coding the past few days! π οΈ
I've implemented:
- Lights and start procedure π₯
- Neutral gear βοΈ
- More realistic starting grid positions
- Dirt and dust effect when you leave the track! π¨

And now we're looking at the #Amiga (PiStorm) version
The good news is that it maintains an acceptable level of FPS at 640x480 resolution, which was the main goal! π―
#IndieDev #RetroGaming #GameDev #Devlog #ScreenshotSaturday
And this is how it works! π
(Though I have to admit, it wasn't my best lap...) π
#IndieDev #RetroGaming #GameDev #Amiga #Linux #Devlog #ScreenshotSaturday
Besides continuing to program the game selection mode, I've now implemented a HUD
It features an integrated speedometer and tachometer in a single dial, plus panels for lap time information, position, and lap number
#IndieDev #RetroGaming #GameDev #Amiga #Linux #Devlog #ScreenshotSaturday
I've been working on the menus the last few days. There's a new one to select the game type!
The screen is fully programmed, even though I don't have different game types ready yet. π
It's all part of the process!

Working on a 2.5D runner, Iβve spent years learning on. Unsure if itβs worth releasing, goal is just to finish, recover some costs & get players. Would you play this? Looking for honest feedback.

A more realistic and fair test run. Some things look good, others not so much. I get hit from behind a couple of times and go flying. Not bad, but a few of the side collisions are a little strange
#IndieDev #RetroGaming #GameDev #Amiga #Linux #Devlog
It's not a bowling game, but it's close... I have to admit that the collision system is being a pain, but it's almost ready

Indie Retro News: OutRun Amiga Edition - A vastly superior version of a classic racer has arrived on the Amiga! (UPDATE) www.indieretronews.com/2025/07/outr... #retrogaming #amiga #outrun #arcade - Performance improvements? YES PLEASE!
Still a lot to adjust with the NPC AI, but now they are trying to follow the racing line on corners, avoid each other, and even overtake! π

Polishing our first boss! β οΈ #gamedev #indiedev #screenshotsaturday
I'm fine-tuning the AI for the rival cars. I think they might be too good for me! π
By the way, the video corresponds to the Linux version of the game. I forgot to mention that it also works on Linux x86_64.

I'm now considering turning this into a full game. If I can maintain a smooth performance, the project will move forward.
If you like it, you can follow my #devlog here www.deuteros.es
One detail, It's being developped in #SDL and requires a PiStorm with a Raspberry Pi 3. I'm using AI as content (images) generator and as a coding assistant throughout the process. Currently, the result is a technical demo that already runs at over 45 FPS.
Hey everyone! I'm excited to share my last project: a 2.5D racing game for the Amiga.
I'm inspired by classics like Vroom, but my goal is to create a fun experience, without the frustration of crashing into roadside obstacles.
