I mean honestly, just let them burn the world down. I think that’s the only possible way to break the white supremacist fever. He’s causing suffering to everyone who voted for him. Maybe they’ll fucking figure it out now.

Illustration by Chris Riddell showing a librarian helping a child to read a book, with the caption "LIBRARIANS CREATE THE READERS OF THE FUTURE"
If we care about the future of our children - we need a library & a librarian in every single school, to help every single child find the books that will make them lifelong readers! Libraries & librarians create the readers of the future! #libraries #librarians #literacy

Day 8 The Doll in the Garden by Mary Downing Hahn
Finished listening to The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer. What a beautifully written reflection on what it means to be a consumer, a community member, and a participant in our economy. Very thought provoking and timely. #ecologicaleconomics #abundanceandreciprocity
Agree completely! I myself love tracking my reads as an adult, but it is optional, not required. I’m so grateful my school has an incredible librarian who cultivates a love of reading and not just AR scores and reading levels.
Just finished Huda Fahmy’s book That Can Be Arranged: A Muslim Love Story. She is by far one of my favorite authors I’ve been introduced to this year. Every single book I’m laughing out loud and I love seeing life from her perspective. Such great graphic novels. #hudafahmy #graphicnovels
My sixth grade STEAM students put on a Thanksgiving parade for the younger students at our school yesterday. The awakening of their engagement and motivation to do something was incredible to watch. So many skills were grown in their creativity, too. #steameducation #schooljoy
I will die on the hill that reading logs, making kids choose leveled books from sorted tubs and the cutting of library time in schools is what has been most detrimental to love of reading. Bring back reading joy.
Red and black text on a yellow circle with a pile of books in the foreground. Text reads: Let kids read what they want
I’ve seen librarian and educators just as guilty of this as parents. Graphic novels, picture books, difficult subjects, audiobooks; all. Reading. Is. Valid. 👏
I love doing visualization brainstorming with AI. So fun.
Adding this to my summer TBR list!

Day 7 Roller Girl by Victoria Jamieson
There's a #Kidlitchat at 9PM Eastern/6PM Pacific tomorrow right here on Bluesky. You might wonder, is 24 hours really enough lead time for you to get into the mood for the chat? And the answer is, you were BORN for this chat. (Also, no lead time is really needed. But shhhhh.). See ya there!

Day 6 Message Not Found by Dante Medema
So brilliant. I love how the town was even a character in the story. Definitely one of my all time favorites!
I know! Kemi’s perspective on life and death really helped me sort through the way I feel about life and death. Just a fantastically written story.

Day 2 Born a Crime by Trevor Noah
A poem by Langston Hughes titled "Tired". It reads as the following: "I am so tired of waiting, Aren't you, For the world to become good And beautiful and kind? Let us take a knife And cut the world in two -- And see what worms are eating At the rind."
I've been thinking about this poem by Langston Hughes recently and although it was published in 1931, it remains relevant as ever.
