Someone had a good night, but sadly not the kingfisher and other wildlife if rubbish gets continually chucked into our rivers!
A sad scene on the River Lea at Hackney Marshes.

Wow, this is amazing work by Hackney council and really good to see even bigger discounts for people on lower incomes. Hopefully Haringey can get something similar negotiated.
Vance says that stopping funding for Ukraine is one of his proudest achievements in this administration.
I’m watching this stunningly cruel speech from Ukraine, as Russia continues to kills us every day. Just today, they killed 8-year-old boy in Cherkasy and five people in Dnipro.
1/ This Yanis Varoufakis screed made me so angry the only way I can salvage my day is to go through it line by line as catharsis.
You are welcome to come on the journey toward my aneurism with me.
An angry h/t to @sianushka.bsky.social for bringing this into my life.

For nearly six weeks, our government has dragged all of us into a futile war, pushing escalation further every single day. (1/4)
💯 One of our manifesto points is: ‘Every child in Hackney should have safe active routes to school’
www.lowtraffichackney.org/our-manifest...
What we’ve done with Londoners over the last decade is just the start.
Together, we’ve cleaned our air and delivered 1m+ free school meals. Now, we’re taking that momentum into the next few years to build a London that works for everyone.
The journey continues.
It’s official: we cleaned up London’s air 184 years sooner than predicted.
The capital now meets legal limits for nitrogen dioxide air pollution. And you can feel the difference across our city.
🔌 Nine new EV rapid chargers are now live across Hackney borough, marking the start of a major rollout that will see more than 50 rapid chargers introduced by 2030. ⚡

Hackney families, prevention is power. If your child’s Meningitis B vaccine is overdue, check with your GP for a catch-up. Vaccination protects kids and the community, don’t wait, stay protected.
We support Zane’s Law: Zane Gbangbola died when flood water which passed through contaminated land and caused hydrogen cyanide gas to enter his home with tragic consequences.
We’ve written to Emma Reynolds MP, Sec of State for DEFRA calling for Zane’s Law so this never happens again.

Huge congratulations to Hackney Council - a newly awarded Council of Sanctuary! Their co-production work is truly impressive, showing a strong and meaningful commitment to placing lived experience at the heart of decision-making.

‘Doing nothing, or prioritising less effective policies, is not a socially equal or cost-free option! It is just supporting and sustaining existing inequalities’

1/2. He took the greatest military force in history, lost a war to a middle power in a week, begged the world to save him, & demanded the media lie about this & everything else. I try, but at a simple human level I do not see how anyone mistakes this man’s almost supernatural weakness for strength.
New Green Party leaflet in Chatsworth Road area where the Council has recently implemented a new LTN and has suffered the usual pushback from a small but very angry minority
Screenshot of an 'X' post showing the Green Candidate has joined 'Horrendous Hackney Road Closures' and stated 'I am against Hackney Council's imposition of Road Closures and LTNs I am opposed to Hackney Council's road closures.
Previous green leaflet in Chatsworth highlighting problems with the LTN shortly after implementation and before any proper assessment of impacts
I am increasingly concerned & looking for reassurance about the commitment of @hackneygreenparty.bsky.social to lower traffic & safer streets in practice. Firstly, the candidate in Chatsworth has now released another leaflet & apparently joined a group opposing everything. 🧵
They said it would take 193 years to clean London’s air. We did it in nine. 💨
London has now met legal limits for nitrogen dioxide air pollution.
Graphic with the title “Traffic casualties in London are considerably lower than the national average.” Below the headline is a yellow box with the text: “London had 19% fewer road deaths in 2024, compared to 8% fewer road deaths nationally.” Beneath this is a line chart showing percentage change from 2015 to 2024 on the x‑axis, with values from 0% to –40% on the y‑axis. Two lines are shown: a dark purple line representing “People killed or seriously injured in London,” and a red line representing “People killed or seriously injured in Great Britain (excluding London).” Both lines show declines over time, with a sharp dip in 2020. The London line dips to around –35% in 2020 before rising again, ending at roughly –25% in 2024. The Great Britain line dips to about –20% in 2020 and ends at around –15% in 2024. A key at the bottom identifies the two lines. The source is listed as “TFL Road safety factsheet 2024.”
London is making real progress. Road deaths have fallen as my Vision Zero strategy takes effect, including wider 20mph limits, redesigned high-risk junctions and new crossings.
There’s more to do, but every step matters for keeping people safe across our city.

Worth reading the detail not just the headlines.
Another vindication of @london.gov.uk & councillors across London in implementing proactive policies to cut air pollution across the city, even against wider political pressures. Shows what can be achieved with bold leadership.

President Macron making the case for renewables in light of the US-Israeli attack on Iran,
"Everything we do to move towards transition is also about reducing our dependence and therefore our exposure to geopolitical risks"
Measles is a highly infectious disease. It can make children seriously unwell, especially young infants and those with weakened immune systems.
The best way to protect your family is by ensuring you and your children are up to date with your MMRV jabs.
🚨Since the war with Iran started, the Israeli government has closed Gaza’s crossings. These crossings are the main routes for humanitarian aid to enter and the only way critically ill Palestinians can leave Gaza for treatment. Gaza doesn’t have enough food. Don’t stop talking about Gaza.
