Proud to be part of the #ACTG A5418 study team! This is why we need these studies - we can’t rely on animal data alone and people deserve safe and effective #mpox treatment. Stay tuned for more on the PK and PK/PD! @cupharmacy.bsky.social @cuanschutz.bsky.social #IDSky www.nih.gov/news-events/...
It doesn't take much to make language person-first.....
"those failing ART" - is it the person's fault?!
"those on failing ART" - 'blames' the regimen not the person
Small things, big impact

Nothing will kill more children than the ongoing decimation of CDC, NIH, and USAID work to lift vaccine uptake in the US and world.
Child survival rose 75% in the last 50 years. Vaccines account for 40% of that. Measles vax alone was 60% of the benefit. www.thelancet.com/journals/lan...

Human rights
To be clear, human rights are not some form of privileges that are “gifted” to people by those in power. The rights to life, to health, to security, to food, to water, to an identity, to live a life without discrimination, to freedom, justice, are inalienable, non negotiable rights. For everyone.
Remembering all those we lost to HIV🇿🇼and resolving to do better

Me aged 30. I was in LA and dressed up to go to a posh do (hired tux). My hair is slicked back and, in black and white under bright Californian sun, my skin looks impeccable. I’m looking directly into the camera with a closed mouth smile. I look like a movie star.
Selfie. I’ve got very freshly cut hair and I’m looking directly at the camera with a similar smile. I’m wearing a vest. My lines are deeper, my eyes heavier, but I’m still in pretty good shape for a 57 year old.
I was diagnosed with HIV in 1998, when I was 30.
Many of my friends had died but I was told, with the new drugs available, I could expect to live another 20 years.
That was 27 years ago.
Honour those we lost.
Celebrate that we can now treat and prevent HIV.
Make HIV stigma history.

This approach has a well-known consequence: it's called the minority tax that faculty of color often face as we're called upon to address inequities in the larger system. I just want to make sure we don't keep adding to that tax. 4/4.

Faculty mentoring in academic institutions, a thread.
As I advance in my academic career (read: as I keep getting more gray hair), I've come to appreciate, even more than before, the profound responsibility we (senior-ish faculty) have to support and nurture emerging talent, not diminish it.
