It is not treason or sedition to remind our military to follow the law and their oaths — it is patriotism. That Trump called for the deaths of Democratic officials in response underscores the need for such warnings.
I’ll get back to shining. I always do.
But tonight I’m letting myself feel the waves.
If I get quieter, slower to answer, or a little dimmer around the edges for a bit — it’s not anyone’s fault. It’s just that the boxes are overflowing again, and I’m trying to sort through the tide without drowning in it.
And suddenly the sunny Kara costume cracks and I’m just… me. Raw. Overwhelmed. Human in the messy, un-Supergirl way.
But sometimes the boxes get too full. Sometimes the ocean spills over the edges. Sometimes I feel all the things I refuse to say out loud — the grief, the exhaustion, the fear, the things I’ve survived that never fully leave my bones — and it doesn’t fit anywhere.
And most days, it works. Most days I can pass for the cheerful reporter who brings snacks, checks in on friends, makes jokes, and keeps moving. Light is easier to carry than darkness, after all.
Beneath that smile is an ocean. Not a calm one — the kind with riptides and trenches and entire storms I’ve learned to tuck away into tiny, color-coded mental boxes. “Deal with it later.” “Not now.” “Everyone else comes first.”
I keep trying to live like #KaraDanvers — all sunbeams and “How can I help?” energy, the person who walks into every room determined to brighten it. I want to be that soft-shouldered, steady, infinitely patient version of myself people seem to need.
But the truth?
