A standing stone carved with a stylised face. The ground around it is covered in fallen leaves and there are trees behind.
I am off to Brittany on Tuesday, and I hope to visit one of my favourite ancient (or probably ancient) monuments. Known as 'Babouin' (the Baboon), this enigmatic carved stone of indeterminate age can be found in the woods near Trédion. #StandingStoneSunday

A wooden toy horse on for wheels. Its surface bears incised vertical lines, chips, cracks from age. There is hole in the head, likely for attaching a string to pull it along.
Adorable wooden horses on wheels were pulled around by little ones in the past, too. A timeless reminder that play has been part of the human experience for millennia.
From Egypt, Roman period, 30 BC-150 AD.

This is what happens when 'treasure' can't be bought by a museum - the hoard has been broken up into individual auction lots & will disappear into many different hands, some overseas.
When do we start saying enough is enough??

This is a great idea. I am only 4 years out from my phd, working in commercial archaeology, but still trying to work on my specialist area and publish. Difficult on many levels, especially lack of access to resources (like literature).

People from all walks of life — including many British Jews — are protesting against your government’s complicity in genocide and standing in solidarity with Palestine.
Conflating Israel’s genocide in Gaza with British Jews is deeply inappropriate and dangerous. Shame on you.

Three Hunters Line
Fangorn Slow Service
Rohan to Gondor Business Line
Black Ships Ferry Service

Gandalf Express
A smaller key on the right side of the map is labeled: "Limited Service Lines" and has color keys matched to the following names lines:

The other day I drew a subway-style map for The Hobbit, and it was very well received. Some of you asked if I could do one for LoTR, so I have!
Forgive the eel watermark; I'm working on making these something you can buy, if you like.

The destruction of Palestine is breaking the world | Moustafa Bayoumi
The rules of the institutions that define our lives bend like reeds when it comes to Israel – so much that the whole global order is on the verge of collapse
"No one knows what will come to replace the international system that is currently collapsing around us, but any political system that prioritizes punishing those who protest genocide rather than stopping the killing has clearly exhausted itself."

Channel 4 to air BBC-commissioned documentary Gaza: Doctors Under Attack
BBC last week announced it had dropped the film over concerns it may create a ‘perception of partiality’
The BBC is destroying itself over this issue. Today it was censoring Glastonbury shows; earlier this week it refused to screen a doco it commissioned, because the film showed … doctors talking about what they experienced in Gaza.
Obviously BBC mgrs haven’t heard of the Streisand effect either.

Anything and everything Trump does is to benefit one person, Trump. America needs to wake up. Democracy or its form of it (that’s a conversation for another day) is being systematically dismantled as we speak, breaking the constitution, which the republicans are supposedly all about.

The fall of a republic
"As a regular visitor to the US over the last thirty years and just back from the States I am getting a definite feeling that something is brewing"
"Historians will be working around the clock trying to understand how the Republican Party, in a few short years, got to the point where their loyalty is to one person and not the constitution."
