More to come, but I just did a data analysis for someone who left substack for beehiiv some time ago and WOW, if your only motivation is money? Forget nazis, terfs, and pedos, just care about cash? You should get tf off substack now!

It's really easy to look back and attribute your success to things like "I got As in school and I passed that test." Those are salient memories and legible markers. But it can be more true that what actually got you here was the ability to persevere, to disengage from bad pathways, and to recover

As the malign and discordant machinery of the universe grinds on I would like to offer a quiet thank you to whatever anarchic demigod or atomic swerve has overlooked the fact that I am just living with Q in a house. Thank you for your inattention to us in this otherwise all-encompassing horrorshow 🙏

I've been told by very smart book world friends I need to talk A LOT more about the book here on bluesky. It's true, much of how books circulate is through the hard work of their authors, so I'll say this: I hope this book will change the way folks understand both the American story and our media.

I did have one Ken doll but he was banished to the howling wastes (he was Malibu Ken and his clothes were exceptionally naff)

My Barbies & Sindies were not that cool but they did all live together in the Sindy house because they were a women’s commune sheltering from an unlivable post-apocalyptic (maybe radioactive?) world outside. Also the garden was haunted

Not reciprocal though, actually. But I feel like it should be / would be in a situation where you’re not designating one sound signal and the other one noise

If you switch the metaphor from visual to aural, yes, apparently - there’s a paper by Wai Chee Dimock that I cite in pretty much everything I write about how background noise can boost certain frequencies in a signal (obv this is a metaphor for literary reception)
