Vikings Fall to Phoenix, But Rise From Ashes to Defeat Penguins CSU (5-13, 1-6 Horizon League at the start of the week) was able to capture another conference victory after being blown out by Green Bay. Without its leading rebounder, CSU managed to squeak by Youngstown State and keep its season’s aspirations alive. At home against Green Bay (10-8, 5-2 HL) on Jan. 15, Josiah Harris was out again. The regular backup crew started for the Vikings — Tre Beard, Jaidon Lipscomb, Dayan Nessah, Preist Ryan and Holden Pierre-Louis.

Crucial free throws by CSU's Chevalier Emery helped break a four-game skid against YSU. Greg Kula has the story. #HLMBB

I'm at the point where I prescribe to the idea that I don't want my site relying on ANY social media to drive traffic.

This isn't a cure-all, of course, but it's the best I can do until I come up with something better.

The E in CLE Stands for Enaruna: Catching up with the Former Viking It was less than two years ago that Tristan Enaruna hit a jumper off one foot to send the Cleveland State Vikings to the quarterfinals of the College Basketball Invitational (CBI). Now, Enaruna is firmly set in the starting lineup for the G-League Cleveland Charge and has many people talking. Just like his college career, his professional career didn’t start in Cleveland, but he’s getting his footing in the same town where he dominated as a Viking for two years.

When Tristan Enaruna left Cleveland State and landed in the G League, little did he know that a year later, he'd return to Cleveland, only this time as a member of the Charge. Greg Kula has the story.

I assure you that I had no handle in creating this headline, but 100% approve of the puns used.

A Capital WIN for Cleveland State As fans glanced at the scoreboard with under a minute to go, flashbacks of three years ago went through their heads. In Daniyal Robinson’s first game at the Wolstein Center, the Vikings lost 72-68 to (now defunct) Division II Notre Dame College. This time, in Rob Summers’ first game at home as head coach, the Vikings saw a very similar game unfolding.

Old ghosts (read: losses to Non-D1 teams) came knocking at Cleveland State's door, but in the end, the Vikings kept them outside, giving Rob Summers his first win as CSU head coach. Greg Kula has the story. #HLMBB

Vikings lose out on conference title but finish regular season on high note February for the Vikings ended with another thud, but they were able to start March off with a bang. In a week filled with massive leads, the Vikings lost a very tough game at Wright State before coming home and out-lasting Purdue-Fort Wayne. With these two results, the Vikings dropped to second in the Horizon League standings but still secured a bye and home game in the conference tournament.

Cleveland State, which fell to Wright State earlier in the week, found its mojo again in a win against Purdue Fort Wayne to secure the No. 2 see in the #HLMBB tournament. Greg Kula has the story.

CSU sneaks by Detroit Mercy before former Viking drops them to second place Cleveland State is no longer in first place. After controlling the division for most of the season, a 1-1 week saw Robert Morris leapfrog the Vikings. With only two games left, CSU will now need to win both and see RMU lose their last game to capture the number one seed in the conference tournament. If the Vikings win out, they would tie for the regular season title.

Cleveland State's Michigan split, specifically the Vikings' overtime loss to Oakland, has put their hopes of getting the #HLMBB regular season title in serious jeopardy. Greg Kula has the story.

Yeah totally agree on the tigers. They were good for like 6 weeks lol
And I guess for me, last year we had one starter by the end of the year. Even if we have two plus our bullpen I’m happy lol

Nah I don’t think so. Twins and Royals didn’t do much and Tigers signed a few. I like guards better than last year on paper. Especially if McKenzie and Williams pitch like they can. Give me Chase and Brito and I’m feeling good.

Vikings had a lot of the good so far, but this week was the bad and ugly It was bound to happen at some point in this congested league. Cleveland State is sliding a bit while losing three out of their last four games. This week saw the Vikings lose at home to both Robert Morris and Youngstown State. What can be learned from these contests and what does the rest of the season look like for them?

Cleveland State is still on top of the #HLMBB standings, but the Vikings' lead is now razor-thin after a pair of setbacks. Greg Kula has the story.

1. Was my tweet a bit petty? Sure
2. Do I need them to acknowledge us for me to keep writing? No
3. Do I crave attention? No comment
4. Is this CSU team fun and do I wish people would pay more attention? Yes

The engagements on this tweet:

-One QT apiece from @gkula13.bsky.social and @horizoneroundtable.com.
-A QT from Nick Corba, who was part of CSU's wrestling team the last time CSU tried to nuke the program. So, you can guess that post was not complimentary.
-A reply from Jon.

That was it.
