My poor zero draft is getting ignored, because my hyperfixation has turned to Metro 2033 and the fanfiction writing urge has hit. 🙃

Wrote a good chunk of my zero draft of Viral Agent today, now to play some video games before movie night tonight.
instead that love is personal, and private, and you shouldn't need to tell everyone everything for them to understand who you are inside. They can just listen and observe. #LoreOutLoud
In the book before, a member of the crew has died, and Kamdar seems to struggle more than most with their loss. The other characters don't know why, and assume that it's because he's just young. This is not the case. I wanted it to feel natural--not that queerness needs to be hidden, but (3/4)
done in such a way that it can be presumed, or recognised, without being baiting or used as a trend. These subtlties allow me to then work queerness into my themes. For instance, though not explicitly stated, in my second #StrangeSpace book, Viral Agent, the character Kamdar is queer coded. (2/4)
I like to write my stories queer, but not overtly. I want people to see my character's identities naturally, without it feeling forced--especially as my stories don't typically feature romance or if they do it's not the main plot. All of my own favourite stories have their subtle queer coding (1/4)
Really, food is viewed as a necessity and is only valuable for trade. The As'a make no celebrations out of food, and they don't even need to eat very often as they have incredibly slow metabolisms. They will fight and kill over food, however, if in short supply. Survival of the fittest. #BonApriltit
me core
It's hammering down with rain. Could be the perfect night to get a little writing done... if it wasn't for the extremely loud music coming from the pub downstairs 😭😭
A graveyard sounds like such a peaceful place. I haven't found a particular spot yet, but I'm on the hunt for something.
Sąar’iah Station. What's most interesting is none of this food distribution process is "government owned," it's all entirely independent. It works well, but it does occassionally cause issues with the supply that the government on Sąar’iah have to manage. #BonApriltit
On top of that, the As'ari are scavengers. Teams organise on massive cargo ships to other worlds--whether previously settled upon or not--to claim food and other resources to be returned to the central space station where there is a massive market hub. You can buy just about anything on (2/3)
It varies. Most of the livestock is raised on the As'ari native planet and then distributed either within the sphere with aerial transport (as navigating the lane can be tough) or shipped up to the space station to be further distributed across the various outposts in the local star cluster.
active internet connection. So I recently started practicing taking my writing with me outside. The public background noise is a bit like white noise to me, I tune it out and focus on my work instead.
#LoreOutLoud There's a couple of situations where I write best. The first is my go-to: late afternoon and evening, at my pc, uninterrupted by anything and anyone, and listening to the carefully curated playlists for my works. It's hard to stick to this in a house with a partner and an (1/2)
#LoreOutLoud I'm actually dedicated. Before, when I was younger, I used to just write for fun and never stuck with anything through to the end. Now I write to complete, to finish my stories.
#LoreOutLoud I want to tell the stories that I want to read--I want to put something out there into the world that feels meaningful and real and has an impact on someone. It makes me quite sad if my stories don't touch people, so I always have a drive to pour my passion into my works.
I'm late, but this sounds fun! I don't remember the exact moment, but I can say that it started in primary school! I always really enjoyed creative writing sessions, it was my favourite lesson in school. And I always wanted to show off what I could create. #LoreOutLoud

That makes a lot of sense! Very cool.
I enjoy the concept of them eating foods just to gain hydration and/or nutrients rather than for taste! Very similar to something I'm doing :D
What is it that makes corn a speciality? Is it just due to it being grown in only one area? Or is it hard to grow elsewhere for some reason? Sounds interesting :)
They have beans very similar to coffee, called zrethkrą'er, though it tastes nothing like the sort when brewed and smells even worse, that the crew favour as a delicacy. The As'ari drink this, too, for energy. The crew of the Pioneer refer to it as Off-ee, coined by the humorous Sulien Walsh.
They're often cut up into pallatable portions, legs, arms, breast, whatever they need in order to be able to swallow that part of the animal whole. For the Humans in #StrangeSpace, they're limited to whatever they can get a hold of from their trades with the As'ari.
#BonApriltit The As'ari have a farming system, they favour livestock over grown foods, so their grown foods typically also are used to feed the animals. On Sąar’iah there are a number of rodent-like, rabbit-like, knee-height creatures that tend to be the As'ari's favourite.
Very excited to talk more about them, too!
Although they do eat vegetables when they don't have access to meat! The Humans are surviving off their alien foods, too, although they don't have too much of a liking for it--they miss the familiarity of their foods back home. And they can't even experiment with it. They have to stretch it out.
#BonApriltit Well, when it comes to Humamity's customs, at the moment, it's "whatever they can get their hands on." The other species in the book, the A'sa, don't have much of a flavour palette. They tend to eat things whole, they don't even chew, and they're mostly indulging in meats and proteins.
If it was a specific food... I would have to say something like a bag of licorice allsorts. #BonApriltit
