It took some time, but I eventually figured out that writing from 2โ6pm with muffled music makes me unstoppable, so I've learned not to fight it. With a little YouTube, I'm knocking out planned word counts & tackling grammatical abominations

Our system knows nothing productive gets done after 3 P.M. Starting BEFORE that time & still working on it after that time... cool. But, getting started after that? Not gonna happen. So, we plan our days around that. Also, creating on 'adulting' days... not possible.

#LoreOutLoud There's a couple of situations where I write best. The first is my go-to: late afternoon and evening, at my pc, uninterrupted by anything and anyone, and listening to the carefully curated playlists for my works. It's hard to stick to this in a house with a partner and an (1/2)

The need to do something with everything in my (Holfelder) head is what pulls me to put words to paper. Even if the words on the page don't match what's in my head, it's a way of processing thru what's up there. My characters end up with mental health arcs that way.

I can safely say I'm a 'budding author'. We put our #memoir on Ko-Fi last year. Glad we did. Not pleased with the completed project, however. Because I can see how it isn't actually complete. Writing #blogs for @4islesmagicshop.bsky.social is helping me sort through shit. โฌ๏ธ

As an autistic person, I find verbal communication difficult; not always, but often. Writing out my thoughts, reading them back to myself, & editing them to convey EXACTLY what I wanted to say makes communication seem accessible. I ESPECIALLY like this method for conflict resolution. ๐
