Screenshot of Rutherford from Star Trek Lower Decks
In this particular instance I was doing business as โRutherfordโ because we were watching Lower Decks when I made the Craigslist post
The Office handshake meme. The left side shows "Craigslist buyer thanking me for being a real person with a real name" and the right side is a confused Michael Scott labeled "Me who randomly picks a different fake name every time I sell something"
Actual interaction I had this week ๐
Every time I see something like this, I think that avoiding Kessler syndrome needs to become a secondary plank in every political platform.
"Don't let the most reckless billionaires ruin space tech for everybody, with no upside for anybody" seems like it should be a broadly palatable stance.
Introduce yourself as what almost killed you:
Hello, nice to meet you, I'm the Atlantic Ocean ๐๐
A screenshot from the movie Primer that happens to include a Christmas tree. There is somebody unloading a dishwasher on the left, and members of the crew discussing something around a table on the right.
Technically "Primer" is a Christmas movie
Post a book you love from the 80s. No explanations, no reviews, just covers.

The Boy Who Reversed Himself (1986) by William Sleator
A picture of a bright red cardinal perched on some vines growing along a wall. The wall and vines are partially de-saturated to help the bird pop visually. There are some slight artifacts because the camera wasn't very high-resolution and I edited the photo by hand in pinta to to get the color effects (and I'm not very good at it).
Birb, very rotund (laudatory)

... oh! I watched that yesterday and had no inkling that it wasn't real, until seeing this post.
LOTR (every year)
Youโve been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Whoโs coming to save you?

After some mildly concerning antics and at least one song, I should be rescued by the time the credits roll.

A photo of the northern lights, pinkish on top, green on the bottom
Wow, the aurora borealis is currently *very* visible in Colorado. Photo from right now, in the #Denver area. Check it out ASAP!
Awwwe, what a cutie! Phidippus audax perhaps? Might enjoy munching a moth or a few. :)
The utopia โThe world ifโฆโ meme, with the text: โThe world if symbolic math was was ubiquitous in programming environments as floating point math.โ
from now on I'm just going to truncate the taylor series for sin at the first term. sin(x) = 0 for all x. this approximation
- is efficient to compute
- has bounded error
- has excellent analytic properties
- has very high accuracy for small values, which occur frequently in applications

A picture of a bird sitting in a tree, which I think looks like a night heron (?)
New visitor to the park - some sort of night heron??
A screenshot of a chess board in early middle game, entirely standard and uninteresting except that I accidentally allowed a bishop exchange that forced me to play an awkward Rxg2

My rook, fianchettoed on g2: โYep, that's me. You're probably wondering how I ended up in this situation...โ

Hi. It's me. 2 weeks later. This is done. 58 frames over 3 seconds, *50* layers in the final image. WOO. This was a long edit, felt like ACTUAL work so unless I get it again with the actual sunset I doubt I'll be editing more like this. Psyched for the final piece tho! ๐ชถ
Bg3 maybe? Escapes the rook, continues to prevent Kh2, and puts pressure on e1 to enable later favorable trades? ๐ค
Just bought a book on optics, for a bit of light reading
