The OfS will be able to use the new complaints scheme from September. From April, it will be able to fine universities the greater of £500,000 or 2 per cent of their income, which would amount to millions of pounds for large institutions, for breaches under the Freedom of Speech Act. Ultimately, universities could be deregistered for egregious cases.

Bridget Phillipson will introduce new laws to make it possible for Universities to be fined millions of pounds if they don't silence students who protest bigots invited onto their campuses. It's like the Tories never left office.

Under New Olympic Sex Testing Policy, A Cis Woman Who Gives Birth Could Be Considered Male History is set to repeat itself after the IOC announced a trans ban and mass sex testing for the 2028 Olympics.

The last time the Olympics had widespread sex eligibility testing, the results were disastrous.

Add social media to that fire now. Intersex athletes will not only have their lives upended, they'll be brutally targeted for harassment and potential violence.

Israel Passes Law to Allow Hanging of Palestinians Convicted of Deadly Attacks www.nytimes.com/2026/03/30/w...

Israel just made it legal to hang Palestinians who have a 99.74% conviction rate in their courts

For Israelis it's a 1.9% conviction rate for crimes against Palestinians but the death penalty is still illegal

Israel can now kill any Palestinian they accuse

Israel is about to start executing Palestinians but not Israelis.

Israel has a 99.74% conviction rate for Palestinians, but only a 1.9% conviction rate for Israelis who commit crimes against Palestinians.

This means ANY Palestinian who is accused will be executed, guilty or not

'Our bilingual pupils are an asset': Teachers hit back at Farage immigrant comments Glasgow’s English as an additional language pupils are an asset to the city, say teachers appalled at the comments of Nigel Farage

Excellent response from @ealglasgow.bsky.social to #Farage.

"..the narrative that EAL learners are bringing attainment figures down is false as well..because..as young people get more fluent in their language, they actually outperform in the general figures."

Video interviews with teachers The latest research from the University of Oxford is a 10-year follow up to the first piece of research looking into the educational achievement of EAL pupils in England. It provides new evidence about how an EAL learners’ time of arrival at school can impact their achievement – and why assessing proficiency in English is essential for schools to understand and unlock their potential. In this video, teachers tell about the implications of the research for their work.

We've launched our latest evidence on EAL learner attainment with @education.ox.ac.uk.

This builds on 10 years’ worth of research and reinforces the importance of assessing proficiency in English.

Our latest evidence from @education.ox.ac.uk shows that the later an EAL pupil joins school, the harder it is for them to catch up in education.

Late arriving monolingual pupils do not face this same attainment penalty, however.

#Oracy is important for success in education and later in life.
For all pupils to benefit however, the specific needs of #EAL pupils must be considered.
Teachers must provide learners with a structured approach that exposes them to language and builds their confidence: https://bit.ly/4nSDEje

It is thought that some of those due to fly had lodged unsuccessful legal challenges against removal, but did not fly due to concerns raised from French authorities that the Home Office had not provided adequate notice of the vulnerabilities of some individuals, such as victims of trafficking and torture.

Can we just address the fact that the UK should not, under any circumstances, be detaining and forcibly removing victims of trafficking or torture to another country. This government is going to end up being the cause of death for already traumatized individuals.
