Carlos Bernier of Puerto Rico was born 99 year ago today. He usually doesn’t get the credit he deserves for his role in baseball’s integration, specifically with the Pirates. He had a long career in Puerto Rico (where he is a HOFer) and the minors, with at least 3,563 pro hits, 264 HR, and 896 SB.
