The political role of the autism spectrum: a response to Uta Frith The political role of the autism spectrum: a response to Uta Frith Last month, esteemed Professor emerita of Cognitive Development, Dame Uta Frith gave an interview to the Times Educational …

"there is no more authoritative source on what autism is than the perspectives of autistic people"

Here's my belated response to Professor Dame Uta Frith's TES interview in which, among other things, the concept of masking is described as having "no scientific basis"

None of this accounts for the fact Mandelson was awful. Everyone knew that, all the public knew it. So why have him in the beginning?

7 hours ago 2 0 0 0

Yep given Morgans resignation letter they should.

Why is Olly Robbins being held to a higher level than the PM here ?
Seems he knew exactly what he was expected to do and did it. Seems the process was dire anyway. So finding this grilling awful watch. Not cool.

Rules should apply to everyone.

Lots of other jobs require vetting, education, social care, doctors, nurses, legal, IT, defence.

Compare this to that. It's breathtakingly awful.

Ditto it's brutal. Like coming in with no DBS and having a teacher fail when a HT likes them. Terrible position be in, except no ofsted report to.

8 hours ago 2 1 1 0

Yep we would never do this. Expect a incoming teacher retro fit a DBS for another teacher...one thats failed. Be a outright scandal.

Giving them all the sensitive data, access to children in a school and being like it's fine we don't need to check at all their DBS.

Not even a guest lanyard. Unreal.

Compare this to working in a school. Imagine us giving a post to a teacher having them teach with no DBS vetting and saying we didn't think they needed it. Unreal.

We done this with other important work? Handpicked by labour? Wes Streeting & his ADHD Autism had dodgy experts announced, picked by Wes, did an entire review within 4 months ⬇️ Same month as Mandelson. Normal takes 6 months...dodgy everyone said so.

So it's literacy option round 2, and hope we can offset it ...because tech refuses to play nice with any other field and figure out what's horrific and whats not so bad snd try keep the tech in Ed confined to the not so bad....that's the plan. 👍

I laugh at how optimistic everyone is with this literacy thing...

I'm all for trying but literacy didn't work with SM. We just started banning it in schools and offset issue to community ( Which is really not solving the problem tbh) in fact I'm not sure with AI we can stop the problem now..

Seen a few posts on AI literacy...

As a teacher and AI scientist...it will probably be as successful as social media literacy which we have seen doesn't really work. Take the SM school issue blast it up to epic proportions, make it so we can't spot it ...that's what it really is.

I'd ask for some! Makes a massive difference.

If the vetting was fine. Why mention it here ⬆️ that's seems tad on the nose given that was Feb.

22 hours ago 0 0 0 0

That sounds like he knew and jumped before it became a massive issue. I mean why mention vetting process needs overhauling otherwise? No it went well but we made a shit decision. No vetting must be overhauled.

‘The only honourable course’: Morgan McSweeney’s resignation statement in full Keir Starmer’s chief of staff leaves job over role in Peter Mandelson’s appointment as US ambassador

#Starmer issue here is Morgan McSweeney:

"Secondly, while I did not oversee the due diligence and vetting process, I believe that process must now be fundamentally overhauled"

I mean that doesn't sound like noone knew till last week.

@direthoughts.com know you broke this with vetting but this one was a weird one so might be worth a look. ⬆️

And it was a direct appointment by
Wes Streeting.

I mean that was controversial drs widely known issues ⬇️

Watching #Starmer today.

How many have failed security vetting? Also how many had it pushed through in areas they obviously wanted a specific person. E.g Independent Review into Mental Health Conditions, ADHD, and Autism.... which was widely seen as fast & picked with a outcome & person in mind.
