Another Tuesday evening and another pesky shift. I’m going this up malarkey up soon.
My favourite purchase of the year so far is this Victorian cast metal jewelled desk lamp. I call it my Claudia Winkleman lamp 😍
Not sure if it’s a Robson one, but nice little detail of the York Odeon’s transformation into Everyman – they’ve kept the (presumably listed) signage, but only the E is illuminated.
I agree. Tuesday is my hump day as I work Mon/Tue/Wed so 👍🏻
Accurate.
Someone let Chloe loose in Primark with her pocket money and now she has a skincare regime 🤣
Reminds me of a PC game I used to play decades ago called A-Train.
Did you visit the train museum there?
I’m ready for my close up, Colin.
The chair has an ecclesiastical feel, fumed oak and dome shaped with inlaid that includes winged cherubs, a lily and a rose motifs all suggest a memorial one might see depicted in a stain-glass or even a head stone. The high backed proportions of the chair allow the inlay work to be visible even when the child is sitting within it. The back of the chair is decorated with a design in inlay work that gives the date of the chair as 1901, hidden within a monogram.
This chair (built 1901) was commissioned by Joseph Angus for his daughter Joan. She was born in 1896, the youngest of ten children in the Angus family. She died of tuberculosis aged 12.

i'm just worried that keir starmer is going to fire *everyone* who knew that peter mandelson was a wrong'un, and the unemployment rate in the uk will reach 99.99%
A times headline linking to a story written by a man: “Never mind the manosphere — meet the angry young women.
Approx. 140 women per year are murdered by men in the UK, and there were more than 70,000 (reported) rapes in 2024, so maybe stop writing now, prick.
Things that made me smile today.
My photo shows a set of Late Iron Age glass gaming pieces displayed on a sandy surface in a display case at the British Museum. The set is made up of 24 coloured glass domes; six each of white, yellow, blue, and translucent green glass. One of the yellow pieces is out of shot in my photo. Each game piece is decorated with five inset spiral motifs in a contrasting colour. Nearly all pieces are uniform in shape; domed with a slightly pointed apex and a flattened base. Dimensions approximately 2.57 cm diameter and 2.2 cm height. The gaming pieces were recovered from a richly-furnished Late Iron Age cremation burial in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, when it was disturbed during the construction of two gas-pipe trenches during the building of the Panshangar Estate in 1965.
Gorgeous glass gaming pieces from Iron Age Britain! 🤩
This unique set of 24 coloured glass domes with flattened base and spiral decoration may have been used for a game similar to ludo some 2,000 years ago.

Saw my car’s grandfather today in Dumfries. I learned to drive in one of these, too.

A photograph of a brightly coloured wall painting of a tiger, its body stretched across a flat surface with bold stripes and sharp features that give it a strong, alert presence. The tiger is painted on the same wall as a glowing neon street sign, the artificial light sitting alongside the artwork and adding intensity to the scene. The setting is an urban alley in Kwai Chai Hong, Kuala Lumpur, where the painted wall sits among older buildings and narrow walkways. The neon sign introduces a modern, electric element that contrasts with the hand-painted image of the animal. The overall scene feels lively and energetic, with the stillness of the painted tiger combined with the bright glow of the neon, creating a sense of movement and life within the city space.

Brilliant!
A recent find, this small booklet dates from 1914 to 1917. It is a collection made by a nurse of entries made by recuperating servicemen she met in Hayling.
There are a number of ANZAC servicemen as well as British.
It is an interesting piece of WWI history providing an insight into who fought.
I call this “Spring, my arse”.
A bronze statue showing the famous Mona Lisa character but lifting their dress to show off their bum. Enigmatic smile remains intact
"Mooning Lisa", bronze, by Nick Walker was exhibited at MShed Museum, Bristol, as part of their Vanguard:Street Art exhibition in 2021 👍🏛️🍑 #MuseumBums
It's so funny to me that right-wingers love to pretend to love the Middle Ages and the Crusades and all that and then complain that the Pope shouldn't get involved in politics.
