Addicted to the Output, Not the Outcome A conversation with Claude after 2.5 months of intense building โ€” on why we crave complexity, what the full backlog is really protecting us from, and what happens when the flow finally stops.

Yesterday my body pulled the emergency brake after 2.5 months of sustained flow.

Turns out I wasn't addicted to the outcome. I was addicted to the output.

The ideas that survive stillness are the ones worth building.

My coffee went cold again.
New reflection: what building solo with AI actually feels like. Not a hot take. A field note.
Exoskeletons. Morning walks in Brandenburg. Why a trillion-dollar market crash feels less like news and more like a Tuesday.

Started using #Siyuan a few months ago and I must say, I might have found a notes, text and general โ€œknowledge baseโ€ that is absolutely amazing. Anyone else on the boat?

And yeah โ€” my โ€œno laptops after 8pmโ€ rule is technically intact. Technically.

The real flex isnโ€™t the AI. Itโ€™s that the decisions were still mine. Every fork in the road โ€” โ€œwhat should the swimlanes be?โ€ โ€œwhatโ€™s the right word for this initiative?โ€ โ€œOKR or EBM?โ€ โ€” that was me. The AI moved the furniture. I chose the room.

The boring part nobody talks about: this isnโ€™t magic. Itโ€™s plumbing. MCP servers, API connections, structured memory, tools that talk to each other. Months of quiet infrastructure work so that one Sunday evening, from a phone, I could reorganize how I think about my job.

saved the whole thing to my knowledge base โ€” and prepped talking points for my boss meeting tomorrow. I didnโ€™t open Asana once. Or SiYuan. Or a browser.
I talked to Claude while lying on the couch. It searched, structured, created, and filed. I justโ€ฆ decided things.

I just planned my entire work week from my phone.

Not โ€œchecked my calendar.โ€ I mean: pulled my calendar, cross-referenced two Asana projects, identified task conflicts, designed a new kanban board structure around four strategic OKRs, wrote the OKRs, pinned them to a task,

What A reflection on what a single infrastructure audit session achieved โ€” with AI as a collaborator.

144 infra tasks. two sessions. AI as a collaborator, not a replacement.

Two Desks On the quiet transformation from borrowed workspace to one that

Two desks. Same person.

One was white laminate with a badge and a disposable coffee cup. The other is real wood with dog hair and a Brandenburg window.

The work didn't change. The relationship to the work did.

Fast, cheap, or good โ€” pick two.

That rule used to stop conversations.

Now AI changes the game.

Speed is no longer your bottleneck.

But quality still needs you.

I actually am 'begeistert' about @tailscale.com. Why did I hold back implementing this solution? It just creates so much freedom in your infrastructure!

None (!) of these had to be re-prompted or rewritten. it's not an instant result, but the results that do come, are astonishing, real, with great text and realistic scenery. The possibilities are endless, and I can't wait!

and putting them together. But that didn't go as planned, I assume because of potential deep fakes etc. to combine images. So I made it into a comic version:

Fascinating stuff generating images in chatGPT:

starting with just an image from a thread (I was so annoyed by all the stuff I had to do since I'm unemployed, to get my benefits), so decided to go with that

Had to go a day without coffee to do some bloodwork tomorrow morning, holy sh*t what a horrible experience. I felt weak, tired, did an insanely strong power nap and can't wait to get to bed later.
