Insight:
Screenshot of an Open Street Map
So many little tweaks and improvements being made this week. But this one is my favourite so far - maps!
See where people are, relative to one another, on an interactive map. This can make it much easier to coordinate house groups, lift sharing and many more aspects of church life.

This way, the UI is kept clean and simple without a WYSIWYG rich text editor getting in the way. Non-technical users can just use plain text as always, and those with a bit more knowledge can get more creative.
Markdown in a textarea
This week I've added a few new fields to Contacts:
- Preferred name
- Secondary email
And I've added the option to use #markdown when editing emails. This makes it easy to add some simple formatting and highlighting inline. Some HTML tags can also be used, for further flexibility.

I've also tidied up the rota exports and added CSV as an option as well as PDF. CSVs can be opened in Excel, Numbers or any other spreadsheet app, and are useful for those who want a bit more control over the output, before sharing with your church family.

✅ Help people get to grips with your statement of faith - create a 'topic' for each item and then any number of 'sessions' on specific aspects or themes.
✅ Use it to share information about church membership or some other aspect of church life
✅ As part of your discipleship programme
I've added a couple of new features to Church Planner over the past few weeks. Firstly, a 'training' portal, which makes it easy to put together pages of content on a particular topic and share this with your church family. Here are some ways it could be used:
The Keswick Convention live stream is up and running. I'll be there for week 2 — if you are and want to catch up, get a coffee, climb a hill or get a demo of Church Planner then get in touch 🤓

“Because of God's 'simplicity' we cannot pit his wrath/judgment against his love. A loving God will be angry at the evil that harms the creation and humanity he loves. God is too loving to shrug at sin and not do justice. But he is also too loving to just destroy and not forgive”
... And probably some more stuff I've forgotten 🤣
Go and try it out at churchplanner.co.uk and let me know what you think.

My original app was called Church Service Planner. This new app does much more than services, so I've just shortened the name to Church Planner.
Church planner does:
✅ Contact management
✅ Groups & families
✅ Events & planning
✅ Document management
✅ Email communication
✅ Audio library
✅ Training

Hi 🖐 Jack here. I'd meant to get this finished and launched earlier in the year, but other projects took priority.
Anyway, in the meantime the app kept getting confused for that other 'Hello Church' in the States. So I've re-named my app, to avoid confusion.
New logo too.
Next week I’m finishing up in the series “Lies Small Church Pastors Believe.” Next up I want to take a look at technology and the church. I’m getting a sense that as good as tech is to expand the reach of the church, it is weakening us as Christians. Anyone any thoughts on this?

Built a dynamic menu for my #saas website. A few lines of jQuery (yes, some of us still use it 🤓) move elements from the top level into the 'More' dropdown, complete with any children, as the browser size decreases.
If the browser size increases these items are returned to their original location.

Nearly ready for launch. Today I've refreshed the website, and made the registration links public - just in case anyone wants to give Hello Church a go!
More website content, including video, coming next week.

You'll find Hello Church over on IG:

And FB:

I've no idea which platforms will prove the most useful in the longer term, but for now I'm trying a bit of everything, to get the word out!

There's a bunch of hard coded stuff in the flow which needs re-working, but I'm glad to have got it working. Here's a screeshot of the editor tool. It's basic but functional, enabling users to create neat and tidy emails. I'll add more content options as time goes by.

Also, I really like the duotone image option, makes it easy to create a coherent style from a random selection of stock images.
And, the PageSpeed scores are blistering, right out of the box, which is a joy.

Have started #ux and #ui testing my web app. Added an extra 'home' button, which is more obvious and intuitive than tapping the name. The big dashboard icons actually feel quicker and simpler than going through the main menu too, for primary actions.

Basic email editor
Today I've been working on sorting out the live subscriptions, including international currencies.
But more importantly, I've been building out my email tool. Screenshots show the editor with content on the left and a preview on the right, as well as the actual email received.

I currently have a new(ish) iPad on my desk. I don't own one myself, I hate typing on glass and find a laptop generally much more useful.
However, I thought I should test my web app on the iPad, given that many people do use them.
And the results are good, everything works nicely ✅

Getting towards the sharp end of the build now.
Have worked through all the forms, checking confirmation/error messages, adding icons and have added a bit of personality with any additional friendly typeface.
Aiming to launch in February.

I've been working on a super simple email tool which makes it easy to include:
✏️ Headings and text
👆 Buttons
🌇 Photos
🗓️ Calendar events
🖇️ Files
This is for non-technical users, who are short on time and just want speed and simplicity. Let me know what you think!
