I haven't gotten a chance to watch The Ravening War, so this is the first time I'm seeing Matt, Brennan, and Aabria all in the same combat. They know each other well enough by now, but I wonder how difficult it is to watch someone make different DM calls than you would.

That was an incredibly tense couple of minutes, and a good attempt by Aabria to break the tension.

This is the game as they have decided to play it, but I'm not convinced about the 'realistic combat' angle yet.

I haven't experienced Matt as a player very much before this. His extremely detailed style of combat is very similar to Liam's - it will be interesting if we ever get them at the same table for combat. Will that many of the same style of play work together

The Halloween episodes of Critical Role are continually some of my favourites. And they somehow always manage to hit serious role-playing moments

These cold openings are a good way to have spotlight moments and lore dump without interrupting play. Will they continue once we move beyond the overture episodes, though?
I wonder how much they are feeling out the audience's reception to the new formats before committing

I'm really intrigued by what C4 has been saying about religion so far. In a world that killed its gods, what is stepping into take its place #criticalrolespoilers
It's that time again - C4, E4 reaction thread. Let's try doing it on here this time!

Hanging out virtually at #FSNNA25 for the rest of the week! My first fan studies conference, and it's already been so wonderful to see so many other researchers working on fan cultures!
This is a fascinating follow-up to Daggerheart selling out everywhere. "We're here for a long time, not just a good time" vibes. Can't wait to see where it goes
A grad student's first publication!
I turned one of my research papers from last semester into a blog post for the @torontomet.bsky.social blog. It's interesting to get used to having my writing out in the world for others to read, but hopefully, something I'll become very familiar with.
It's probably not a surprise to anyone, but it's frighteningly difficult to turn a 4000+ word essay into an under 1000-word blog post.
I constantly feel like I'm cutting out vital information that makes the topic work
Bless the Reylo's for their organization and archiving skills - it's made researching this paper way easier on me
A picture of a projector screen. On the screen is a presentation with the title "Mimetic Desire and the Matt Mercer Effect" with a picture of the cast of Critical Role
First big presentation for grad school is done! It is still very odd to be able to do assignment after assignment on my research interests and not have to jump around to fit the topic of the course.
I guess we're doing this for real this time?
Anyway, hello! I'm a first-year grad student attempting to figure out what it means to go from being a lifelong fangirl to a fan studies student.
I've had my first round of orientation so I guess this is actually happening and it's time to update everything.
Taking a big leap and pursing something I've been thinking about for a decade now - I'll be starting an MA program at @torontomet.bsky.social in September in Communication & Culture.
I need more algorithm based apps to adopt Spotify’s ‘exclude’ feature.
Midnight me’s TikTok rabbit hole should not be influencing Daytime me’s FYP.
Prep for Fan Expo is ramping up, a lot of little things to adjust or add to my Picnic Padmé costume and I kinda want to add a border print to my Bad Batch dress….
"this time I'm going to be really professional" she says.
I give it a week before I'm posting fangirl nonsense....
