I say this not just as a Who fan, but Shaban was a brilliant actor who grasped the core of any role he undertook. A great loss.

It’s not: and we need to keep saying that.

Hey all, I got my 2025-2026 COVID shot and flu shot at Hy-Vee today without difficulty. If you’re planning to get your updated Covid shot, you might want to do it by the 18th when ACIP meets. It’s hard to predict what accessibility will be like after they make recommendations.

Just watched my friend and colleague @dr-steph-king.bsky.social deliver a blinding presentation at #BERA around her doctoral research on marginalised children. Amazing… catch her if you can and her powerful findings.

I say it each year… we your lecturers don’t know (or frankly care) if you got your place months ago or days ago by clearing. When you’re in our class you’re here, we’re happy to meet you and look forward to working with you. You’re one of us.

Anyone in London, the V&A museum has a #disability and design exhibition. It costs… unless you are disabled in which case you get a free ticket and a free carer. It’s a damn good exhibition that talks a lot about protest.

Who shoots civilians waiting for food? Who illegally occupies someone else’s land and continues to annex it? Fairly sure it’s not the lovely Jewish couple down the road…whom I don’t conflate with a genocidal nation state because I’m not an idiot or an antisemite.

She’ll never know how grateful I am, but of a whole train that ‘didn’t see’ my TFL ‘Please offer me a seat’ badge, this one woman did. A single act of kindness that made the day easier when I really REALLY needed a seat. It’s simple yet profound. Please look up occasionally. #disability London

I can’t believe I only just found out about this!! I’ll be pouring over the recording once they are released.

Support for SEND children is already hard enough to access as it is, so please consider signing this petition.

In the US they are talking about a ‘disability tax’. In the UK it is a cut to disability benefits. Anyway you look at it, when hardship calls, the disabled are the first ‘luxury’ to go.

If Labour say mental health is over/diagnosed and they want(ed?) to cut benefits, what exactly is their use? How are they different from the Tories other than that they gave us hope of being better?

I strongly believe that far from moving to the centre right, @teamlabouruk.bsky.social needs to fly its socialist colours with pride. As far as the US is concerned we are a disposable asset; now is the time to work for the UK interests alone. The US is now morally bankrupt.

Have you been asked, as a federal worker, to do something you don't want to do? But they won't put it in writing?

DON'T DO IT.

If they're going to punish you? MAKE THEM PUT IT IN WRITING. ALL OF IT.

Document, document, document.

Act confused. Be confused! Go slow. Require clarity. Lots. Document

Me too! I have ADHD and am hoping to access coaching to support me through the mire. Being an academic is weird… we can be intellectual and run rings around some and then can’t run a simple project or activity that a 12 yo could do. A weird space to navigate.

If I’m in a seminar and hear someone say something fascinating I ask them to hold the thought as I’ll draw on them. Then I do that and can amplify their thinking to the whole class. That’s a healthy ‘non-hijacking’ way I think.

So I’ve just asked Fortnum and Mason for an update on their next steps after the November paralympian debacle. So let’s see what happened next…
was there an event? Did they do any training? This is a case study in my future classes for sure.

Sometimes people refer to having a disability as a ‘superpower’. Beneath this idea is the fact that if you are disabled what others do with ease is takes more energy; more care and precision. Not exactly a superpower but certainly a skill.

Seriously… as an academic, your shop makes my heart sing.

What shatters our hearts is not just the Israeli massacres, the genocide tearing through our lives—it is the quiet, insidious ache of being made to feel invisible, unworthy, less than human. It’s the unspoken weight of knowing that, to the world, our suffering is a faint whisper, not a scream.
