I love how fresh this record still feels. Absolute peak of powers.

Growing pretty bummed out about Bob Weir’s passing today. Him and Phil gone in just under a couple of years. A very real and magical energy is no longer flowing through this world. Very sad.

Hitting the 50% mark of three books: Dreamcatcher by Stephen King, Libra by Don DeLillo and Excession by Iain M Banks. Enjoying them all so much for different reasons. Hoping they all continue that way.

My first book of 2026 is finished. A Friend Is A Gift You Give Yourself by William Boyle. A pretty dark tale all in but told with so much heart. I’m obsessed with Boyle’s writing. It’s economical yet so vivid.
Who’s read him?

I want to share more of my creative play this year so to that point, here’s the start of that. A patch made in VCV Rack where one button press sets a small chain of events.

It’s certainly not a rule for me. Miles is good any time of day. But there’s definitely some of his works that feel like ritual incarnations once the sun has set.
Oh, for sure, that is certainly a record that hits different post-midnight.
For 2026, I’d like to connect with more people around all the stuff I enjoy as I experience all these things in a very solitary way. I have many moments of joy and awe but it would be real fun to do so in real time with others.
I have a real yearn to make music/art with others too. I miss that.
Some Miles music only really works at night ❤️
And somehow, I made a lot of animations and music myself. I made two records this year. One I released:
cronchamp.bandcamp.com/album/entrop...
The other one will be released in 2026. Phew!
I felt like trash for most of 2025 but I endured under pressure. Really thankful for all the distractions!
And a few chance encounters with some anime trailers at the cinema led me down a few, very rewarding rabbit holes that I’m still travelling down.
Frieren and Jujutsu Kaisen were the highlights here. Can’t wait to experience their new seasons in real time from next week.

And I made time to watch a bunch of films at the cinema. Again, really enjoyed being away from my smaller screens and simply disappearing in other worlds.
One Battle After Another blew me away mostly by how it looked and sounded despite how great the story and performances were.

I listened to a lot of music. Made 92 hours of radio for @bff.fm - also celebrated my tenth year of the station 🤘
My end of year shows are here:

While I’m thinking about this year, here’s some other roundups:
I got back into comics in a big way. Mostly DC after always being fairly ignorant on a lot of the catalogue. So much fun.
Though my favourite read was Murder Falcon by Daniel Warren Johnston and Mike Spicer. So, so good.

This is actually lined up for to me listen to today. Looking forward to it.
My approach is to make music/visuals that move me in some way. If I can feel something in what I’ve made, that there’s a connection to it, it makes its way into the world. In that way, it feels like I’m posting out the energy rather than good/bad art.
I didn’t connect with this record as much as I wanted to but I absolutely adored the Gunn-Truscinski Duo record. Was on regular rotation all year, felt magical every time.
My absolute favourites, in no order:
White Noise by Don DeLillo
Earthseed duology by Octavia E Butler
Pet Semetary and Bag Of Bones by Stephen King
Kingdoms of Death by Christopher Ruocchio
Liveship Traders/Tawny Man trilogies by Robin Hobb
Gravesend/The Lonely Witness by William Boyle
So yeah, I’m feeling good about it and the spreadsheet I built means I can plan out all the books I’d like to read over 2026. Will I read another 100? I’d like to be a little more leisurely but I’m not ruling it out 😅

- I can be consistent if I break things down enough
- It felt good to push myself a bit on the days I really didn’t want to do anything
- Reading feels like escape, medicine, nourishment. Even the bad books gave me things to think about
- Having an excuse to not look at screen is pure bliss
Official count for books I read this year stands at 102. I decided in Spring that it would be fun to see if I could do it. Had to build a spreadsheet so I could game it a little bit. Having ADHD means I really had to push myself some days but I proved a bunch of things to myself…
It’s such a fun record. Some great, knotty time signatures.
The UK loses its mind over bread and milk this time of year. Having to go on a mission just so I can eat my breakfast this week. I’m laughing. Not moaning.
For a while in the 2010s, this was my alarm clock. Guaranteed a good start to the day.
What was hilarious at my screening was the absolutely beautiful looking Odyssey prologue showing right before the hilarious barrel scrape that was the Doomsday tease. Blows my mind how hard Marvel have fumbled their IP.

A band that never disappoints
It’s a hard film to rate because the visuals were great but not mindblowing. It was three hours of feeling there’s a better story to be told in that world. A generous ⭐️⭐️⭐️
It was nourishing
Sunlit cityscape seen through a window, with dotted safety markings across the glass, clouds glowing around a low sun, and faint reflections visible on the surface.
But right this moment, after days and days of rain. This is my view right now. Drinking it up. Better than anything else.
