🔍 Can you search a tissue image like a dataset?
A new study led by CeMM PI @andre-rendeiro.com & his team introduces #LazySlide, an AI-powered, open-source tool that links whole-slide pathology images to molecular data & even enables natural-language search.

🎉 LazySlide published in Nature Methods!
Open-source framework bridging computational pathology with the scverse ecosystem.
Thanks to @yimin-zheng.bsky.social for leading this, the Rendeiro Lab, and the amazing community support!

Congratulations! Super cool research
Important insight into recent history, and a provoking thought we should all be having
Grateful to the Experiment Foundation and Navigation Fund for the "Beyond the Journal" award (experiment.foundation/beyond) recognizing our open science practices in our open source lab manual (rendeiro.group/lab-manual)!
"we have an obligation to create high context environments" agreed - to me that is already true with conventional workspaces. Research data and derivatives should be organized, open, FAIRified, etc - yet I don't see OpenAI focusing on that ever as it'd go against their business model
🎉 Huge congratulations to Lisa Kleissl on winning the APART-MINT fellowship from the @oeaw.bsky.social !
A shared postdoc in our lab and the labs of @lderooij.bsky.social and Georg Stary, Lisa's ideas and research earned the well-deserved recognition 🙌

Sounds really cool and brings back some nice memories from my past working with Eric Thompson. Congratulations!
Data looks super sharp and nice figures, congrats!
This is great to hear, and congratulations @brent-p.bsky.social - bedtools was a critical part of my PhD, wouldn't been able to do anything without it
There are a couple of empty chairs at our table — want to sit with us?
Reach out to me or any lab member www.oeaw.ac.at/gmi/research... We’ll be hiring two postdocs in 2026.
We’re excited about ambitious and creative ideas and are committed to supporting future group leaders 1/2
Had recently the fastest ever turnover in a manuscript we submitted. All 3 reviewer reports were for sure heavily AI-generated. All have multiple factual errors (e. g. the authors don't specify X -> it's in the manuscript), very generic and asked for 'validation' in a super broad manner 🙄
Warm welcome to Maria and my very best wishes to her as CeMM director - excited for the future of our institute!
Thank you, Marco Demaria (UMCG), for a great #CeMMinar on heterogeneity in cellular #senescence! He shared how senescent cells can both aid tissue repair & drive aging & dysfunction, & how targeting them could support healthy aging. Thanks to our hosts @lderooij.bsky.social & @andre-rendeiro.com

Just saw Ubuntu 25.04 isn't covered 😥
Understandable to only support LTS releases
🙏 this is great! Many years ago I had a bunch of apt-get installable r-cran- packages that I tried to make play nice with the rest from bio conductor, great that there's a dedicated repo with ready-to-use debs now that included bioc
Installed #Rstats for the first time in a year - my laptop ran out of battery before I managed to install 2 libraries... 🤕
After working with `uv` for some time, I don't think I can suffer this experience :pain:
One more reason to love Python! Thank you for staying true to your values ❤️
Thank you! ♥️
Finally, someone has solved a real problem with AI! No more having to take a paper in the format for a journal that rejected you, and reformat it for a new journal. Well done!! formatmypaper.com
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT📣: I haven’t been this excited to be part of something new in 15 years… Thrilled to reveal the passion project I’ve been working on for the past year and a half!🙀🥳 (thread 👇)
