Maggie Gyllenhaal made the movie she wanted, told the story she wanted to tell, and that is all part of the greatness that is 'The Bride.' It is a love story born out of loneliness and acceptance with interesting characters, wonderful costumes, and a beautiful score.

If you are looking to watch this weekend. I can recommend Maggie Gyllenhaal 'The Bride' for something a little different. I was able to catch it on the big screen last night, and while I can see why it might not be for everyone, that's okay.

Great book.

While a huge fan of the original, this one does have some great moments.

This is one of the greatest ghost stories ever told on screen—and the book it is based on is pretty terrific too. The scene with the two huddled with the knocking and everything being told with shadow and light with some great sound editing thrown in… a masterpiece of cinema.

Of course, we have mechanical failure of the shark to thank for that. Who knows what would have happened if Bruce had work from day one.

Besides the spoilers for Deep Blue Sea, you are right that CGI shark attack has been overused and poorly executed. But one of the things that worked for making Jaws a success was the minimal appearance of the shark for most of the movie.

Amazing!

Gary Jules version of Mad World for Donnie Darko would be a good edition.
