Taking a minute to look back at this event. It was good:

It was a great catch
I really think every article about Long COVID should mention ME/CFS, but itās an even more jarring omission because the picture is from an ME Action protest. @meactnet.bsky.social
This article also does not make it clear that people are continuing to develop Long COVID from reinfection.
"The [OECD] report notes that long COVID has a health system and economic impact that is similar to stroke or multiple sclerosis, but has not sparked the same response."
That cost? $135 billion per year over the next decade, comparable to the entire annual health budget of the Netherlands or Spain.

COVID vaccines are tied to less hospital care, long COVID, and economic burden.
A large study in Germany shows lower hospitalization, all-cause death rates, and health care costs in vaccinated people.

So listen. We have this data. Showing hospital admissions for ārespā infections 2x pre-pandemic. But ALL school absence discussions - see CBC! See the National last night! IGNORE growing illness as biggest absence factor (or ANY factor!). This is horrible reporting/journalism. /1
We want to talk to anyone in prison who thinks they may have Long COVID, and would appreciate readers sharing this call for sources with any loved ones, friends, or contacts. People in prison have limited access to information, so they may not know much about what Long COVID is. Rather than just asking if someone has Long COVID, you may need to explain that a person might have it if they got COVID-19 and never felt they really got all the way better or if an old health issue got a lot worse after COVID-19. Anyone with ideas for sources should contact reporter October Krausch by May 31 at rebelprof@proton.me If writing from the prison: The Sick Times Attn: October Krausch PO Box 331009 Brooklyn, NY 11233
Reporter @octoberk.bsky.social is working with The Sick Times on an investigation about the experience of #LongCOVID in prison, which will also highlight how people outside of prisons can advocate on this issue.
as an argument in favor of quotation, it also makes for a strong companion piece to my article on generative AI in music, and the ways in which sampling practices can remind us of what we lose when we instantly generate a song.

āBeing vulnerable is a human skill; taking accountability for oneās own work and ideas, and choosing to let others perceive it even though it may be imperfect. When questioning what a human musician can do that a robot canāt, the most satisfactory answer I can come up with is to be brave.ā
š same. Mine is in Ottawa so thatās at least one thatās different.
My optometrist does the same and it is so refreshing!
Palantir put out the most cartoonishly evil statement possible. Theyāre so arrogant and self-confident they donāt seem to believe their fascistic plans can be opposed.
We must get rid of Palantir altogether.

āWe are not treating [Long COVID] with as much seriousness as we should be treating it. And when that doesnāt happen, then people donāt open up.ā

Interior of the Bombardier's Challenger 650 jet (model bought by taxpayers for FORD). Image from CBC article (https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/doug-ford-private-jet-9.7167824) that got image from Bombardier site.
Do you think Ford needs a 28.9M jet? (& needs jets at Toronto Isl airport?)
Are you okay with him hiding embarrassing, or worse, info by changing FOI rules?
Are you okay with Ford appointing vs you electing regional chairs? Ford criticizing judges?
If not, call Ford 416 325-1941 (I just did).

āMedical institutions must educate staff that Long COVID is a disabling condition affecting up to 40% of healthcare workers who contracted and continue to contract COVID-19 while working in hospitals that have failed to control the spread of the virus and other pathogens.ā
Personally Iād suggest the Bone-Finder!
Recession indicator
In healthcare, in education, wherever our governments are responsible⦠the very basic need of clean air should be met. Theyāre looking for savings and efficiency? Stop forcing preventable illness on EVERYONE repeatedly! Provide clean air!
It REALLY pisses me off that money is going into AI when we need CLEAN AIR to breathe!!
āBreaking this silence requires active institutional interventionā YES. I try to bring this up and I am ignored at every turn. Please start talking about this @ontarionurses.bsky.social @cfnu.bsky.social
+ clean air!
Ahhhh thatās so incredible š š
Hands down one of the most corrupt premiers in Canada, with very stiff competition

It's been three and a half decades since I contracted the flu, probably a virus, that stole my active life. I got sick & never recovered. Today is my M.E. anniversary, my "sickiversary." People with Long COVID are only beginning a journey that for me has lasted 35 years. #millionsmissing
Oh my god what is wrong with people šµāš« This reminds me of a time I was driving through Kootenay National Park and saw tourists sit their baby down 20 feet away from a grizzly for a photo
How much longer do we need to let kids sit in poorly ventilated classrooms before we actually do something about this
Also, *we need treatments for Long Covid*
