In the absence of high quality evidence wouldn't it be better to encourage participation in REMAP-CAP and Recovery trials for influenza? Guidelines can be an obstacle to evidence generation.

I think the evidence for treatment is lacking and we should randomise to remap-cap or recovery rather than administering random care.
