For years, designing websites that work for people with #disabilities was treated as a legal problem, not a business one. But a recent report has discovered that mindset is changing fast, with 58% of business leaders confirming #DigitalAccessibility actually drives business growth: zurl.co/dmFZT
How to use links inclusively on digital platforms: 1. Write descriptive link text - Don’t write ‘click here’ - give direction. 2. Make links clear and easy to see - Underline links and have hover states. 3. Give link download details - Write the file’s name, type and size. 4. Don’t open links in new windows - Except in a form element e.g. to T&Cs. 5. Give direction with image links - Use directional alt text e.g. homepage. 6. Use shortened links on posts - Don’t use full URLs on social media.
Changing the way you use link text makes a fundamental difference when it comes to #DigitalAccessibility. In particular, using inclusive links helps #VisuallyImpaired users navigate your platform.
