Liebe dt.

Really lovely little video! I felt very sorry for the poor sad English professor.
1/5🧵After a long trip through peer review limbo, our paper on inclusion and public participation in Open Science policy is finally out!
📖 doi.org/10.1098/rsos...
2/5 We analyzed 52 policy documents from Europe and the Americas. We found that most make broad claims about democratizing knowledge, but offer little in the way of concrete measures to support inclusion or public engagement.
3/5 That is, inclusion is often treated as secondary—something that might follow from openness, rather than something requiring its own commitments and actions.
Publics are named, but rarely centered. Our findings suggest that without more intentional policy, this won’t change.
4/5 Being able to read or reuse research isn’t the same as being able to contribute to it—or shape the systems that govern it. As governments question the value of inclusion, it’s urgent we ask who Open Science is for—and who gets to shape it.
5/5 Grateful to Reviewer 1 for their thoughtful and constructive feedback.

We think this is a worrying trend, hindering the discoverability of research. @relx.bsky.social Is this what you mean with 'Empowering Open Science' ?
