I also love how I am absolutely sure that "making them appeal to men" will involve every marketing strategy possible that isn't "acknowledge they have been systematically undervalued and underpaid due to being 'women's jobs' and pay everyone doing them what they are worth"

If I see it and I'm feeling a bit cheeky I'll ask one of the shop assistants that are working, and explain the situation.
I don't think anyone has ever said no, haha!

Oh yeah, absolutely. There are a lot of intersectional elements of Anning that make her pretty compelling.
As a working class kid hunting in Lyme Regis in the summer, she was absolutely an inspiration from that angle, too.

My example of"Thought Leadership" for a job application was "Someone cited me in a Keynote talk at a conference I went to as a person who made him redo this slide".

The "no dogs in shops" thing is a US thing that stood out to me as a Brit. Not restaurants, but pubs and cafes have always been "animal-safe" spaces.
Like you say, maybe systemic too - if you can't afford rent for a large space, but want a pet, is that or the social contract going to bend first?

I think this is actually really important in part *because* it tells us a lot about the reality of sexism in 19th Century Science. Her relationships with De la Beche and (especially) Buckland were complex, and show a society willing to bankroll her, but unwilling to recognize her as an equal.
